The Verizon LG Chocolate Touch comes with a large 3 inch touch screen display with  240 x 400 pixels resolution, a 3.2 megapixels resolution camera, Bluetooth 2.1, GPS and more. LG Cell Phone Reviews

Pros: Amazing music player & sound quality. Better than any MP3 player I have experienced. Dolby equalizer presets are great. Also contains a search field to find specific songs(great for when you have hundreds of songs and want to find a specific one fast). Has a "Join the Band" application where you can play a drum set or piano with a song or pause the song to play your own tunes(cute, but not very useful). FM radio works great, very loud and clear with plenty preset buttons. Reception was better than the radio in my car. Has Song ID that can tell you the name of the song, artist and album but I am almost sure that uses some data. LG-enV touch info

Easy to transfer music with the included usb cable or to add your own custom ringtones and wallpapers via micro sd card. I have XP and it installed everything I needed just by plugging the phone in. I accessed the phones 1GB internal memory through My Computer and put my music in there with no problem.

Thin, stylish design. Not too heavy and not light enough to feel cheap. Made of metal and plastic.

Spacious home screen with drag and drop shortcuts, a lot like a desktop on a computer. Can also use animated wallpapers. Real calendar, clock, notepad widgets.

Fairly customizable; You can put your own custom ringtones on your micro sd card and apply them to your contacts/call/text tones and do the same with your pictures or wallpapers. Choose from 3 different menu fonts but only two themes.

Has proximity sensor so that when you put the phone to your ear it turns off the display, when you pull it away it turns it back on.

When you turn the phone sideways in text, music or browser mode it automatically adjusts to landscape mode thanks to the accelerometer.

Speakerphone is VERY loud and clear and has an easy to access button on left side of the phone for that option as well as an Unlock button, music and camera button.

I love the touch slide up unlock feature. But if you prefer not to fool with the touch unlock just press the unlock button on the side of the phone twice.

Texting is fun with the full qwerty keyboard and usually pretty accurate unless you are going super fast and then it makes some mistakes. You can change the key size to large for fewer mistakes. Also has T9 and various settings for predicting text. I don’t think that any virtual keyboard is going to be as accurate as a hardware keyboard, but it does the job without the bulk of a keyboard. Has PEN mode that lets you draw out the letters using your finger instead of typing them in. It’s a cool feature but I think that is too time consuming and hard to do with a finger. It also has a drawing pad feature that you can draw a message/picture and send it as a picture message.

Cons: Full HTML web browser was disappointing at best. Not Java enabled, can not download images or mp3s from the web browser(which is to be expected anyway). Must go to Verizon URL entry page every single time you want to enter a URL. Does not have URL entry bar at top of browser.

Camera doesn’t have flash(WHY!!?), picture quality is decent but not amazing and has a slight shutter delay as do most cell phones.
Screen isn’t as bright as I would have liked, but it’s acceptable. Seems to be very responsive and accurate, except that it sometimes selects what your finger lands on when scrolling through the menus.

It only has two color themes but since they are only really visible when in a menu it’s no big deal for me.

Social network shortcut isn’t what you think… it’s only a shortcut to text message your status updates or pictures. It’s nice, but not an actual application like what I expected. I am glad that it doesn’t use data though.

You have to take the batter COVER off to access the micro sd slot but at least you don’t have to remove the battery itself.

You must have the earbuds plugged in to use the FM radio and it does not come with earbuds(again, WHY? lol). Also, I would have loved to seen the FM transmitter on this phone and a FM radio record option.

Call quality seems to be average in my opinion, I say average because I have heard a little bit of static on my end where I have never heard any with my old PPC 6800.

I would have liked for the battery covers to be metal instead of plastic because that chrome coating starts to peel off after awhile making it look very cheap and ugly(my husband has the LG Rhythm and the chrome is all but gone from the plastic). They may have to be plastic in order to snap on though, so who knows. The battery cover colors should have also been unisex… there is NO way my husband is going to use a purple battery cover lol.

Overview: Overall, I recommend this to any music fanatic. On the other hand, if you are looking for a phone with excellent browsing/web downloading capabilities, I suggest just going with a smart phone.

omg this phone has given me so many problems. after a while my touch screen starts to choose its own selections. It called someone on its own one time. it answers my text messages and i watch this all happen. its so weird. i hate this phone. it gets to the point sometimes where i can’t even use the touchscreen because it acts like there is a finger holding something down and it won’t let me press it. idk its hard to explain

I’m having the SAME screen problem!! I’ve been searching for ways to fix it. It’s driving me INSANE! AND I just hit my 1 year mark, so of course it’s not under warranty anymore. It’s a 13 month DUD. DON’T EVER BUY THIS PHONE!!

melissa on 25 August, 2010 at 7:59 pm #

hey. does anyone know how to set the picture of yourself for text messages? if the messages are arranged by contact there is an empty picture that just says ME i was wondering if i could put a picture of myself in that spot. please get back to me if you know how to do this!

Aaron on 2 September, 2010 at 5:37 pm #

This phone absolutely sucks!! The touchscreen is complete junk. The calibration always messes up.

Chris on 26 September, 2010 at 6:35 am #

@ Melissa and Tommy,
Page 57 of the User Guide offers instructions on this. Go to your contacts list, scroll down to the “My Name Card” tab, and select that to edit it. You can add a picture of yourself which will then show up by outgoing text messages.

Justin on 18 October, 2010 at 8:17 pm #

popeye: to remove the apps on your home screen just click and hold them down, there will be a trash can pop up and just drag them over to that and they will be gone.

I’ve had this phone for a year and have NOT been happy with it!!! My first one had the same screen problems others have described..cursor jumping all over the place..texting random people..etc. Of course I had total phone freeze-up while on a business trip and was in communication limbo until I could get to a Verizon store. They replaced with a new Choc Touch…and 2 months later I am starting to have the same probs as before. Needless to say.. I will be going back to a smartphone…

How do i set the time on this thing

sharon on 7 November, 2010 at 3:14 pm #

My husband and I just got these yesterday, I love it. But, I have noticed that every call comes in with NO caller Id on my phone. I have googled this, and all I keep getting is make sure your contacts are saved with area code, which they all are. My husbands phone works just fine. I’m really not in the mood to call Verizon and sit on hold. Has anyone had this problem? and if so, what did you do about it?

Jackie on 10 November, 2010 at 11:59 am #

Popeye – go to Display Settings and turn ON your Shortcut Bin first. Then when you hold down an icon the trash can will pop up, drag the icon over to the trash can.

How can I get the music I’ve transferred onto my phone to be set as ringtones? I have no idea how to transfer music from my phone’s internal memory to the sd card, maybe that’s the problem? I have the phone hooked up to my laptop via the enclosed USB cord, but I dont know what to do from here.
Thank you!

MY cholcolte touch broke and i had the phone for 10 months now

tani on 21 January, 2011 at 4:29 pm #

OMG!! Yes! I’ve been having the same problems with my touchscreen too! At first, I thought it was the clear touchscreen cover that I put on it to protect the screen, but now that I took it off, it’s still calling random people, texting people, and opening the most random stuff without me touching the screen even once! If it wasn’t for that, I would be alright with this phone

ny on 27 January, 2011 at 2:19 pm #

i hate this phone’s touch screen. it sucks because you have to use touch screen to do everything on the phone. as other people have mentioned, my phone has randomly texted weird stuff to other people by itself. i tried recalibrating again and again but it still sucks. the battery life is amazing though. i would say that’s the only plus side of this phone.

DB on 13 February, 2011 at 12:04 pm #

Ditto all the touchscreen comments. I HATE this phone.

Steven on 15 February, 2011 at 2:35 pm #

I have enjoyed this phone for the second time in a year and a half. My favorite and probably only likeable feature is that FM radio. I’ve reached a point where it doesn’t respond to touch at all, again. I know the drill, and I’ll have to say goodbye to yet another chocolate touch, and it’s not gonna be a fun one.

Adriana on 26 February, 2011 at 11:39 pm #

Hey, so I have had this phone for almost a complete year, and this is the first problem I have had with it. It does not matter what ringtone I pick for it, whenever people call me it is the same Low beep one over and over again. This just happened like this week the last time I synced it, and everything else stayed normal. It does not matter how many times I try to reset it, it does not work. If someone could please let me know how to fix this problem it would be great, the low beep thing is way annoying and used to be my simple message tone.

HELP! :D

MarkW on 16 March, 2011 at 7:30 am #

I agree with all the touchscreen issues. Extremely frustrating. I have recalibrated touches twice and yet I still have to try multiple times to get it to work and yet it works when in my pocket or in my holder on my belt. ??? EVEN WHEN IT’S SUPPOSEDLY LOCKED!!! When the phone rings and I just try to get it out of my pocket, it either answers the call or disconnects the call when I don’t want it to. Worst phone I’ve ever had. There are “smart” phones and then there are “stupid” phones. Guess which one this is?

ema on 19 March, 2011 at 3:00 am #

Well I now have a issue with my touch screen it just flat out doesn’t work all the buttons on the outside of the phone are working but that’s it. I have insurance on the phone but I have to pay a $50 co pay to replace my phone and looking at it now it’s not worth it I only paid $50 for the phone I am coming up on my phone upgrade at the end of July but I was hoping someone had an idea of what I could do to potentially fix it short term

christina on 22 March, 2011 at 10:13 pm #

i got my phone in November of 2009 and let me tell you, I have had so many problems with it. the screen doesn’t work right at most times. some random black lines appeared at the top of my screen and won’t go away. and recently, the speaker has been acting up. when someone calls me or I call them, I can’t hear them because the speaking is so low. I have the speaker volume all the way up but it won’t work.
I am eligible for an upgrade in July but I hear that Verizon isn’t gonna be letting people upgrade anymore here before long?
this phone is terrible. do not get it.
I’m switching to AT&T in November when my 2 years is up.

Ashley on 30 March, 2011 at 2:13 pm #

i have had my chocolate touch for about a year and a half and so far the screen lag, the speaker screw up, the phone freeze, my battery life went from a week to a day, my battery overheating, horizantal black lines, vertical multicolored lines, blurry screen, and a lack of response from the buttons. i would NOT recomend this phone

Bobby on 3 April, 2011 at 4:57 pm #

My touch screen color messes up all the time ive went threw 2 of these phones now 3 the color on the phone just messes up it sucks

Johnny Boy on 4 April, 2011 at 6:46 am #

LOVE this phone. Easy to use. Love having the applications I use on a “desktop”…lots of bells and whistles for a non-smart phone. Hope it lasts me til smartphone plans become much more afforadable

Jen on 7 April, 2011 at 8:43 pm #

I wouldn’t recommend the choc touch to any1. Everything is done by touch so when it’s in your purse or pocket it does what it wants lol. The biggest complaint that I have is that after about a yr and a half the screen got bubbles under it and one day it just stopped working so unfortanetly I have to do everything by voice commands which REALLY sucks!!!

BC on 14 April, 2011 at 11:18 am #

Same problem as Jen, have a bubble spreading from the left side and touch is now almost unusable. I miss my old dare which had no problems ever. I love the touch phones, but LG cut corners on this one to try and compete with the swarm of smart phones. Now it’s obsolete and can’t buy it from VZ at all if that tells you anything about how reliable the choc is. Well the iPhone is with VZ now so guess that’s where i’m going. Lg has disappointed me.

crystal on 26 April, 2011 at 3:47 am #

mine freezes alot and now the music player wont work. it takes forever for it to make a connection when i hook it up to my computer and when i pull the music player up it either shuts off right away or it freezes the phone. Also I know my security password was my brothers birthday b/c i wanted it to be something my hub didnt know and it wont let me lock my phone bc it says its the wrong password. i still have a year or so till i can upgrade =[ i always pick phones for looks, it never works out for me. my husband’s ugly phone works great =[

Shelby on 5 June, 2011 at 2:31 pm #

Ugh this phone is so horrible! The screen constantly freezes. I have to take the battery out & turn it back on but sometimes it freezes right when I turn on then when it freezes & goes back it doesn’t have any of my pictures that are on my memory card. & I can’t get a new phone till december .! I wouldn’t recommend this phone at all.! It’s so aggravating.

Diane on 6 June, 2011 at 3:17 pm #

Same story. Screen used to push random buttons, and now it doesn’t work at all. I am incommunicado unless I pick up with someone calls, since that uses a real button.

Anonymous on 2 July, 2011 at 3:02 pm #

This phone was fine up until a few weeks ago and then my touch screen stopped working. I would take the battery out and reset it and it still wouldn’t work. I took it to the verizon store and she had no problem with it. I don’t get it. I like the phone. The battery life is awesome but the touch screen is not good.

Dallas on 10 July, 2011 at 8:42 pm #

Worst phone ever..second one of these…same problem now occuring with this replacement ive had for a few months an prior to this I had it almost a year..i get weird marks on the side that soon spread to all over and make it not read anything when i touch it..now my phone screen acts as if something is pressing it in the 1 or 4 area and currently now is not even letting me touch it. :) DO NOT EVER BUY THIS..trust me.

Meg on 24 July, 2011 at 11:18 am #

@Dallas yeah my lg chocolate touch is horrible! ive only had it for about a year too and there are these weird black-ish liquid marks on the side that keep growing! and i would also have that same problem where its pressing in a certain area (the 1 and the 4 too) when im not even touching anything. now my phones touch screen comepletely doesnt work anymore. dont get this phone if you want a phone that will last you for a while before you have to get a new one

Paul on 27 July, 2011 at 6:06 pm #

My chocolate touch is so ANNOYING & chooses how I text! Like see how I’m typing now? It’ll text normal like this for a couple days THEN Decide To Text Like This! It’s ANNOYING! I need help, anybody?

LGAlly on 10 August, 2011 at 6:22 pm #

I touch one letter and it does another. Ughh it was probably because I dropped it so many times. I upgraded to the LG Ally but I will probably have to use the LG Chocolate Touch AGAIN because the Ally is a smartphone and it’s getting expensive for someone like me. I wish it had a physical keyboard, like the 3.2 MP camera, hate the no flash, and the resistive touch screen, but I guess I will have to live with it until I can get a pre-owned env Touch.

Stay away from the chocolate it is pure crap. Internet is very poor, touch screen will read what it wants too (not what you want it to read), recalibration does not work, the phone is crap-buyer be warned.
