With the LG Viper 4G due on April 22 at Sprint, the carrier has now begun offering the phone for pre-order. This will be one of the first three LTE 4G devices announced by Sprint (the other two include a mobile hotspot and the Galaxy Nexus), and it packs some pretty nice specs in an affordable package. The mid-level device sports a four-inch WVGA NOVA display and 1.2 GHz dual-core processor. Some other rumored specs include:
- a 5MP autofocus camera with video recording,
- a front-facing camera for chat
- 1GB of RAM,
- 4GB of built-in storage space,
- NFC, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS
- a 1,700 mAh battery
- Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS
Currently Sprint’s 4G network is based on Wi-Max technology, but the company is planning to roll out its own LTE network this year, as rival 4G networks from VZW and AT&T are proving much faster than Wi-Max.
Pricing was revealed by Sprint for the mid-range LG Viper 4G. Starting today, Sprint is allowing anyone to pre-order the LG Viper 4G at the price of $99.99 (after a $50 mail-in rebate) with a new two-year contract.
