Remember late last month when I said that LG was planning to roll out the Google’s latest Android 5.0 Lollipop OS to its G3 model in the US? Yeah, it definitely is.

Following its rollout of Android 5.0 Lollipop to the HTC One M7 and Samsung Galaxy S5, an Sprint support page has revealed that the LG G3 should begin receiving an update of its own starting February 16th. The new update will bump LG G3 to Android 5.0 Lollipop and include the following tweaks:

  • Material design bringing complex views and fluid animations to mobile devices.
  • Unified User Experience
  • Enhanced Notifications
  • Battery Saver

After all, who does love it when their phone’s processor gets faster and its battery lasts longer?

The G3 update will roll out over the air, so you Sprint customers should begin seeing it pop up on that day. You can try heading into Settings > General > About > Software update > Update now to see if you can pull the update manually.

An yet-unseen smartphones VS986 has been spotted doing its thing on Verizon’s official website for a short while. The database listing has been taken down, but thankfully someone had the presence of mind to grab a screenshot showing it.

Several weeks ago the LG VS999 was revealed to be the Verizon’s model of the LG G4, alongside with the LG-H810 which was believed to be the AT&T’s version LG G4. However, this time the LG VS999 model is not listed in the database entry.

We got some relatively trusted information from mylgphones, the VS986 could be a lower version of its LG G4 flagship model, probably called G4 mini or G4 stylus for Verizon Wireless.

Anyway, let’s hope Verizon will shed some light on the matter soon.

LG is starting to make its best efforts at drumming up excitement for the upcoming G4. First, the company has officially confirmed that it’s working on a new flagship smartphone, and that it will be called G4. Not that we had any doubts, given the many rumors and leaks about it we’ve seen in the past few days, but still, it’s nice to have official confirmation.

Today LG’s System Dump file confirmed that the Korean’s variation of the G4 has the model number F500L/K/S, and will feature a “2K” QHD 2,560×1,440 resolution.

Everything else about the G4 is a mystery for now, save for the fact that it will probably run Android 5.0 Lollipop. So stay tuned.
