Does the LG Ally allow we to use it as a WiFi Hot spot? My answer is, yes! But this depends how many computers / laptops do you need to tether to a single LG Ally simultaneously? LG Phone Problem and Solution

If you just need 1, you can use PdaNet starting now … free for not-https, $19 for https version. (Any number of computers can use an Ally via PdaNet, but only one at a time, via bluetooth/USB dial-up-networking). LG-Ally info

If you need more than one computer talking through an Ally *at*the*same*time* … you need to wait until:
* Android 2.2 comes out and Verizon/LG get it released to Ally
* Someone roots the Ally and gives instructions on how to root it (this is not reasonable on a corporate owned phone IMHO)
* the PdaNet makers come out with a super-version (unlikely IMHO)
* Your company gets you a Verizon ‘MiFi’ hotspot (best option) (The Mifi allows 5 (?) wifi devices at once to access wireless broadband)

The Mifi is apparently $60 / month for "unlimited" data.

Joan if you cant access HTTPS Web Pages with PDANET, just pay for the full version. The trial version specifically states that everything except https web pages work past the free trial.

when you open a wifi hotspot you need to make sure you keep a log of all conectionns. A Wifi Hotspot management system is the only feasable way to do this

i have a lg ally and i downloaded the pdanet program. if you also load the program to your home pc and use internet sharing, the pdanet can then be run thru a wireless router and your cellphone will be the “modem”. you will then have wifi for whatever you have bandwidth to cover. i ran my home network like this for almost 2 months before i got roadrunner.
