If you don’t need the LG Vu’s 3G connection, for sure turn it off, even if you get a new phone, It’s the LG Vu’s factory default Dual Mode and it’s easy to access the menu, dial 277634#*# on the dialpad, Go to Modem Setting (6)>Network Mode(2)>Network Mode>And lock onto 2G Only by selecting and pressing ok. Don’t recommend this. After I tried this it made me experience situations where I have 5 bars, then go to make a call and it says “service unavailable”
I have tried this and I hope it works. Yet I don’t understand how tirning off 3G will keep my battery longer??
This works for the LG Invision as well. I started having problems where I could not make any phone calls using 3G, after disabling it, my phone works great. 
i turned off 3g on my vu and now I can get picture messages whereas I was having an issue before.
