Step 3:
Backup you LG Viewty, open the “BackUp” folder, you will see 4 folder, open the most suitable folder for you and Run the application file “LGMDP_…” Vista User: Right Click On It And Select “RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR”. LG Cell phone Software
- LGMDP_EURO for european phones
- LGMDP_US for North America
- LGMDP_H3G for phones locked to 3 network
- LGMDP_OPEN for all others
The “LG 3G Mobile Download Program” opens, now click on “Select Port” Within the Select Port window you’ll see your LG Viewty phone select it and click on “Connect”. LG-Viewty info
If you don’t see your LG Viewty phone within the list, maybe you haven’t installed the driver for the LG Viewty. Unplug the phone, browser back to “LG Unlock” folder. Now run the application file “driver.exe”.(Vista User: Right Click On It And Selet “RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR”) and follow the instructions to install it. After that reboot your PC and plug the LG Viewty again.

Step 4:
On the next window, click on NV Default box (it wont TICK the box), but the “Start” button will light up. Click on it.

Click on the “Yes” button on the next window appears, the software will strat a backup of your phones data files, your phone should turn off and on again twice, once the program has completely finished exit. Do not turn off your phone manually, let the program takes control.

Takes a bit of time but seems to work ok. I’ll let u know when i try a different sim! Looks good though 
no It does not work, tried it step by step and nothing, my phone is still tied to bloody 3 network.
When I click backup I get window that says emergency mode,what am I doing wrong?

It worked graet for me. I bought an LG viewty from EBay. It was locked to Vodafone, UK. I have unlocked it now and am using it on Three. UK.

I cant get it to work. It makes at all the way through to the end but when I quit the program my phone does not turn off. How long does that take???
i have 2 phones, worked like a dream on 1 of them, just not on the other. it just can’t reboot
It wont work for me i have a viewty on 3 network but want it on o2, any ideas on how to do it, i get on the dowload program where i have to select my phone the when i do it says com30 emergengy mode AAARRRGGGHHHH, any ideas please. Thanks !!!!!!!!!!!!
mine does go more then step 2 , also port emergency mode , mine is a lg k990I nenwest version of it. but this is just to normal k990 .

i got it to work but using a different method, i have a lg 990i and was bought in UK and locked to vodaphone, i did all above but it didnt help so i experimented and using lgmdp open and after conecting my phone i went under tools and service programing and selected all services in one of the options and its now accepting my croatian t-mobile sim card
Hi it seems this can’t use a Tesco sim card when its unlocked is that true does anyone know ?
At first it didn’t work, then I thought maybe I needed to do the whole unlock process with the new SIM card already inserted, and voila! it totally worked!

Oh, BTW, mine was locked to SFR and now it works with my prepaid Virgin Mobile card.
The red “Emergency mode” means that you need to be in that mode to start the process.
To do that, turn off the phone and then press “call button” + “c button” + “Camera button” and then “hung up button”. After that conect the usb and run the “lg 3g mobile download”.
