When I plug in my LG Optimus V to my computer via USB cable, the USB notification does not come up (it used to, though), and my computer shows me a notification/box/list of USB ports with a statement that says "USB device not recognized.  One of the USB device attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it.

I searched quite a while to and finally find the LG Optimus V drivers on the LG official site. This is a larger file but will have all of the drivers you need. Install the Drivers WITHOUT the LG Optimus V hooked to the USB Port. Once the installation is done, NEXT plug the LG Optimus V in to the USB port and wait a couple of seconds.  You should see a little USB symbol appear in the upper Left of the Notification Bar. Open the Notification window and Press on the USB notification and choose Mass Storage Mode. LG-Optimus info

I have a Virgin Mobile LG Optimus V. The one driver my computer could not find was the LG Android USB Device. I unplugged my phone after the incomplete driver installation in Windows 7 (32-bit), installed the driver package, plugged in my phone and bam, it worked! thanks

I also have a Virgin Mobile Optimus V and although the USB Storage option worked the first time I tried to use it (my computer didn’t even have the drivers loaded at the time and it’s a few years old, running Vista) it hasn’t worked since.

Called LG tech support and they were friendly but could not resolve the issue. I’ve tried downloading three different sets of drivers (including the one listed here) and nothing has worked. With each attempted install, I’ve first used Control Panel to remove the previous LG drivers, then done a cold reboot before installing the new drivers and plugging in the phone.

I shouldn’t have to unmount the SD card every time I want to transfer files.

Any ideas?

I can’t get this stinking Windows 7 to acknowledge the Optimus V. I’ve installed the LG driver like 20 times, and it says it’s installed and ready to go. But I can’t find the connected phone as a drive, picasa can’t find the phone either. So while Windows 7 tells me I’m all set, NOTHING WORKS. All that happens, is my phone will get a charge, but I can’t remove any of the pictures clogging up my storage.
