In this guide, I’m going to show you how to tether your LG Optimus S to computer. If your LG Optimus S without rooting and using the one that comes built in from being froyo without using a carrier, You are lucky. Your LG Optimus S will do it.
Ok, to start, you need to set up your LG Optimus S: LG Android Phones
- Download and install the "quick settings" app from the market
- Open it and press menu>customize
- Move the wifi hotspot up to be in the visible settings
- Turn it on.
Note: you cannot turn it on in settings in the phone but once its on using quick settings, you can go into settings and set up a password for your network. LG-Optimus info

Is it free or do u have to pay the additional monthly fee
There are 2 quick settings in the market, one that is free and one that cost 4.99, they are from 2 different sources, which one do you use ? Looked at the screen shot of the free one but did not see anything about wifi so I am guessing it is the 4.99 application. Please verify Thanks

It works off and on for me but, it routinely tells me that I must update my profile. It does this not stopped and eventually I end up giving up on trying to connect. Any help would be appreciated.

This works on the Optimus v. I spent hours researching and finally rooting my phone only to find this easy and effective solution to my tethering neeeds!
When you refer to tethering, I’m assuming that means connecting the LG Optimus V to a laptop/computer using a USB cord, or does this create a hotspot? I see both comments in here and want to be sure what’s intended. Thanks.
