I tried to install it on a koodo lpg500 following your instructions to the letter and it locks at the boot screen with the Android logo with the spot of light scrolling from left to right non stop.
Im trying to downgrade to the original firmware otherwise I have a brick.

I just did my koodo optimus one, and I did have to hard reset after updating to get past the flashing android logo, but after that it works great.

So yeah. Do it up, but if you get stuck at the android logo, pull the battery and restart the phone while holding volume-down and home. That’ll fix it.

Thanks for the tip Dave. Worked like a charm. Just remember to back up your apps and data as the hard reset did wipe my phone. No big deal really though.

To do a hard reset after installation is mandatory. You can also revert to froyo (2.2.x) if you don’t like gingerbread but you also gotta have to do the hard reset after reinstalling it. Note that doing a hard reset as mentioned above erase all your data. I have read somewhere that incompatible data remains in the cache when changing versions and that this is why you have to do a hard reset.(Canadian Koodo user)

Warning. I tried to update my LGP509 Optimus T and the kdz updater program threw an exception and crashed hard while the phone was in emergency mode. My phone is stuck in emergency mode and none of the button tricks (hard reset, etc) work. I spent half a day trying all of the recovery methods I could find but the phone is unresponsive to all software. I would only recommend you attempt the upgrade if you are prepared to fry your phone permanently. In retrospect, I would have been perfectly content with froyo until the official gingerbread update was available for my phone. Obviously, the kdz updater is not as robust as it should be — a program exception should not result in a bricked phone.

Stuck in emergency mode means no recovery possible, based on all I’ve read. Stuck on the Android screen means recovery is possible with a hard reset.

I upgraded my phone and it’s fine, except the bar on the top where the battery is on top right is all black and he battery logo and antenna logo are ugly looking… anyone having this issue??

I successfully installed Gingerbread onto my Optimus One. I was experiencing serious battery issues. So i tried to un-install it and revert back to Froyo. No luck at all. I have hard reset it and factory reset also. Gingerbread aint going nowhere

hi i have lg p 500 mobile phone with android version 2.3.3 . can i update it to 2.3.4

I have lg p500 from T-mobile which is unlocked to accept all gsm sims. Is there any way that I can upgrade to gingerbread 2.3.x from fryo 2.2.x. there is no official gingerbread release from T-mobile yet.

i did on a optimus t it lock but i took the battery out make sure you turn antivirus off it want let you flash it the keep trying to flash on you computer it will work then set apn to the t mobile one

If you’re stuck in yellow screen emergency mode phone not f#cked, remove battery keep plugged into usb then try hard reset, or try recover phone in lg software. Don’t bin it as it can be recovered. Some versions of firmware like 40b will not except update, like the one’s carphone warehouse sold me, i bought the phone outright what gives those twats the right to stop me updating my firmware. Anyone know any way around blocked firmware updates?

install rom this way only to make it work with a rooted phone.
reboot in to recovery and wipe cache.
then do a wipe/data/factory/reset.
and finally go to mounts and storage – format system.
now go back to instal zip from sdcard, choose your zip and install.
reboot your phone and you have a shit working copy of 2.3.4 2.3.7 android market will not be there are your camera does not work. 2.2.2 are 2.3.3 are the only genuine working updates the rest are just people pissing about, dont believe me try them?
