LG seems ready to launch a new Android smartphone in 2012, as the handset, LG Optimus 2 AS680 is now featured on it’s official website. Coming as the successor to the almost-ubiquitous Optimus One that was introduced in 2010.  LG Android Phones

Although the LG Optimus 2 to be the successor to the Optimus One. However, apart from a more powerful processor (800MHz instead of 600MHz), Bluetooth 3.0, and the newer Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS, it doesn’t have too many enhanced features: it’s still a 3.2 inch 320×480 touchscreen, 3.2 MP autofocus camera with video capture support, Wi-Fi, GPS, a 1,500 mAh battery, 179 MB of built-in storage space and microSD card support. The LG Optimus 2 supports CDMA and 800/1900 MHz EVDO for 3G, which means that the phone will probably be launched by Verizon, Sprint or a CDMA-based prepaid carrier like Cricket. LG Cell Phone News

It’s not confirmed yet when exactly the device might launch and at what price point, but CellCom offers the LG Optimus 2 for $0.95 with a new two-year contract. We will keep you updated on the status of the device. LG-Optimus info
