In case you have installed the TWRP on your LG G2, and then took the OTA, after that you rebooted the device as instructed, it got stuck on a splashscreen and you can’t get your phone to boot normally, but you do see TWRP?

Here’s the easy fix:

Method 1: Using ADB access, plug in your phone and run this:

  • adb shell
  • dd if=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/fota of=/sdcard/fota-backup.img
  • dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/fota

Now you should be able to successfully reboot your phone via the TWRP menu option, or via a simple reboot command in adb.

Method 2: Using TWRP’s "terminal command" option to run this:

  • dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/fota

You’ll have to type that whole thing out, and be very careful with spaces and punctuation. One wrong letter and you could nuke your LG G2.

Undertake this at your own peril, but there’s a massive community or experienced modders on sites like XDA to help you if you get stuck. Best of luck!

I tried method 1, exactly as you said. Now my phone is stuck in boot loop. And a hard reset just continues the boot loop. I can’t even turn it off now.

I’ve tried method 2. Typed it all in. and it does what it’s suppose to. Then go to reboot options, and tried rebooting with either system, recovery, bootloader, poweroff all load right back into the team win recovery project!! HELP!!

What worked for me was from the TWRP terminal command was to type

dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/fota

then hit enter

dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/misc

then hit enter and reboot.

…thank me later
