In case you have installed the TWRP on your LG G2, and then took the OTA, after that you rebooted the device as instructed, it got stuck on a splashscreen and you can’t get your phone to boot normally, but you do see TWRP?

Here’s the easy fix:

Method 1: Using ADB access, plug in your phone and run this:

  • adb shell
  • dd if=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/fota of=/sdcard/fota-backup.img
  • dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/fota

Now you should be able to successfully reboot your phone via the TWRP menu option, or via a simple reboot command in adb.

Method 2: Using TWRP’s "terminal command" option to run this:

  • dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/fota

You’ll have to type that whole thing out, and be very careful with spaces and punctuation. One wrong letter and you could nuke your LG G2.

Undertake this at your own peril, but there’s a massive community or experienced modders on sites like XDA to help you if you get stuck. Best of luck!

HELP! My phone came with Team Win TWRP installed and I used the above code to unbrick the phone. However, last week it wanted to do an update, which I refused. It shut down ANYWAY and is now bricked. The problem is, when I try to type in the code that worked last time, the “dd” will not type because just before the “update”, that area of my touch screen died. I also cannot rotate the screen to put in the code. My photos are now trapped in this phone thanks to TWRP. >:( Any suggestions? Is there an alternate code or some override that will allow me to rescue my pictures?
