Starting today, the new LG Cosmos VN250 messaging phone can be purchased through the Verizon web site for $29.99 after a $50 rebate with a 2-year contract. The LG Cosmos VN250 looks similar to the LG Rumor 2, which came out the middle of 2009.

Features of the LG Cosmos VN250 include a sliding 4-row QWERTY keyboard, 2" QVGA display, 1.3MP camera, threaded messaging, Bluetooth support, Bing search, CDMA 1x for data (no EVDO), 2.5mm headset jack, microUSB port, and supports microSDHC memory cards up to 16GB in size. At least the LG Cosmos VN250 will not require a data plan like most newer phones. LG Cell Phone News

LG Cosmos has a serious defect. Many of them if turned off will then go into ftm mode when turned on. Everything will be wiped from the phone including phone number and esn (serial number). LG needs to do a software update so all of the Cosmos can be reflashed with it.
