The problem is that your phone is detected as turned on. So make sure that it’s detected as a Flash Loader Utility, by installing these drivers: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=JAVJVVSF

OK – It works! )

So realising something was no quite right, and having installed the USB drivers lg-phones linked-to, I decided to remove to ALL USb drivers from my Win Xp PC and reboot and reinstall everything again.

This time the KS360-Utils-EN.exe program found the handset and extracted the required files ‘STATIC_EEP’ and ‘STATIC_EEP.big’. I copied STATIC_EEP o the root c:\\ drive and following instructions at ‘Step 5: the unlock code’ I managed to get my unlock code which I the entered into phone and it unlocked. The only slight difference is that the instructions say to Press “Unlock SIM” and then “Network Lock” whereas with my Virgin UK handset I needed to select “Unlock uSIM” and then “Service Provider Lock”.

Many thanks to all concerned and here’s hoping this helps others successfully unlock their Cookies.

but after this ive tried everything, I tried installing the drivers that lg-phones provided, still didn’t work, so I tried doing what jackie did, removed/unistalled all traces of my lg mobile off the computer and reinstalled, but when I enter the STATIC_EEP and then connect my turned off phone it comes up with the same error and it also sometimes windows shows in the bottom right corner:

so i have my 8-digit code, then i enter the 2945#*71001# … the menu comes up, i go on the sim, then network lock, and then it doesnt let me on and just says “not available!” .. so then i try agen and enter 2945#*71001# and then i just click key, i enter the digits, and press ok and absolutely nothing happens?? can anyone help? it would be so apprieciated thankyou

On my Cookie I hag to select “Unlock uSIM” and then **“Service Provider Lock”** for it to work – note this is different to the original guide above.

i have managed to unlock it! the error was because of an .dll, wich in this tut told me to replace! i have puted back th original “IFWD_DownloadDll.dll” that came with the program and worked like a charm! thanks a million to the one that wrote this tut!

hello guys. i did all the instructions and i got unlock code. unfortunately when i turn on the telephone after the steps that i have followed and click unlock sim, all of the menus in the unlock menu gives me ‘not avaible’ error. the menus that i clicked network lock,networksubset lock,service provide lock,corporate lock and SIM/USIM lock. when i click any of them,i get ‘not available’ error.did i do something wrong during the instructions ? i will so glad if you can help me.cheers

Finally got it to work, and it works with my US At&T service…. Thanks guys been trying for a month to get this unlocked. Works with the KP501 but you have to have Windows XP, won’t see the phone as Flash Utility Device.

I eventually managed to get it to work, but I had to use the V10D file from this list:http://www.lg-phones.org/category/lg-cookie-info/page/7 and selected the ‘Great Britain’ version. I wasn’t able to extract the files from the other one. Also, when it asks for the unlock code, I had to click on ‘Service provider lock’, not ‘Network lock’. I’m not very adept at this sort of thing but I’m chuffed that I managed to work round the problems and finally unlock my Cookie. Thank you and art903 very much. This is the only solution I found on the net and no shop was able to help me.

I am still unable to unlock it. Hi guys, I finally got the STATIC_EEP file, copied it to the C:\ but when I try to get a code (with the phone still plugged in and turned off) it gives the following error: error during opening/reading/writing of file: ios_base::failbit set.

For people who are getting the errors during the “plug your phone” part, do this>

delete all the lg modem drivers and lg related crap, without the battery, plug your phone to the usb cable and do all the process, there’s no need of plugin the phone only in the period specified.

Thanks heaps, worked for a crazy johns KP500 prepaid kit in Australia. One thing I had to do was make sure the menu of the programs letters did the right things as the latest LG utils has a extra command letter.

I rang up and got the unlocking code and everything but when I turn the phone on, it doesn’t give me the option to unlock the phone, it just says USIM locked and emergency calls only!!!!??? Any advice?

2. From the list Choose your current operator(for me that was Orange).

I am trying to unlock a KP501 on Orange. I have found the unlock code using this method, and the phone appears to accept it, but when I try a different sim card the phone will not turn on. It just shows the LG screen and momentarly starts the Orange startup sequence before restarting. Can anyone help. I have the latest software from the LG website V10k.

Thank you soooo much. I spent a whole day researching for a much easier way to unlock my phone but nothing worke so I give this a shot… a very long shot at that. It’s not so easy to do and I had to have someone who is computer-literate enough to do all the clicking and typing and mostly all of the job but it really worked!! There were a few mistakes in the process, though that we had to research on the side lines and read comments over and over again. And it was just this time that I realized those unfathomable letters and words in my computer system really makes sense! ) Thank you so much!

When I insert my sim, there is no menu to enter the numbers; Same without Sim and Emergency call only with invalid sim.

For WINDOWS 7 users – due to windows security settings it won’t let you save the STATIC_EEP file on your C: drive so i named an empty text document ‘STATIC_EEP’ and changed the file extension to ‘big’ – now you got a file STATIC_EEP.big move it to your C: drive. When the KP500 utils ask you for data file type in C:\STATIC_EEP. Everything else as instructed above, though UK users might have to use service provider lock instead of network lock. Took me about 8 hrs but i finally managed to unlock it. Good luck, over’n'out….

It took me two days as I, like most of us was stuck at the NAND error.

Combining suggestions by comments made here, I was able to get past this.

First, “Extract Custom Files From The Firmware!” – in this tutorial, DO NOT move IFWD_DownloadDLL.dll from dll folder to the LG-Utils-0.4.2 folder.

Second, As I use Windows 7, I chose to run KP500-Utils-EN.exe as an admin. Yes, choose the English one rather than the French one stated in this Unlocking tutorial.

Third, Step 4 has mistakes.
Do what ‘Stubborn sunday hacker’ has recommended. Create STATIC_EEP.big from Notepad and save in C:.
Then, do the following in the utility >
O
\\.\USB1
C:\KP500.flb [ you did move the flb file to C:, didn't you ? ]
C:\STATIC_EEP
Then, quickly plug the USB cable to your phone in it’s switched OFF and battery-less state.
Go then in the folder of the program. There are 2 new files, a file STATIC_EEP (little file, 80Ko?) and a file STATIC_EEP.big which is bigger. Remove the file STATIC_EEP.big (it is the file STATIC_EEP with falses entries).
Copy-Paste the file STATIC_EEP in C:\, next to KP500.flb.

Then, follow Step 5

Having trouble with “Unavailable”
I got my unlock code, but the phone just kept saying “UNAVAILABLE” whenever I selected any of the unlock choices. I found away around this! Take out your sim card, power up the phone, enter 2945#*71001, select “sim unlock”, select “service provider unlock”, you now have the screen to enter your code into. Slide your sim card into its slot, be careful, it wont go in easy but it will go. Now enter your code and press ok. If nothing happens, leave the card in, back up one screen by pressing the “hang up” button and then select “service provider unlock” again. This time it should work! Woot!

I don’t like this website because it doesn’t say how to unlock PUK & that’s what I need.

Was locked to Tesco Mobile, will now take Orange sim cards.

Everything worked up to:

“A menu appears. Press “Unlock SIM” and then “Network Lock”. Give the code you got .OK. The phone reboots, and it is unlocked!!”

Instead of “Network Lock”, I selected “Service Provider Lock”. It restarted and it’s now unlocked

When I tried to unlock kp501 with new sim card in it went straight to emergency services. I couldnt cancel the call either. I found that I had to take out sim card altogether to unlock the phone from Orange. Then when it re-booted I put my new sim in and all was OK.

A good GSM phone for the price
I travel frequently back to the UK so this phone works great for me. It is quad-band and GSM phone which means it has a removable sim card that I can use a pay as you go sim card when I go back to the UK, and then switch it back while back in the US.

ALLRIGHT this is how I did it on XP, with the correct driver.

First download ONLY THIS DRIVER, no OTHER BUT THIS ONE:

If you have any other drivers on your pc get rid of them and restart it.

then connect mob with usb cable without battery,sim or any memory(mmc) it will find new hardware, let it install drivers auto

after install drivers remove phone from usb port

2- donwload this:

extract and put the file “KP500.flb” in c:\

3- open the software KP500-Utils-EN.exe

Press O ( Backup STATIC_EEP…)

then ENTER

then write: \\.\USB1 and press ENTER

then write: C:\KP500.flb and press ENTER

then write static_eep and press ENTER

then connect phone to usb and wait, it should create 2 files in Lg-utils folder, one with name STATIC_EEP with 80kb and other STATIC_EEP.big

delete the STATIC_EEP.big file

and copy STATIC_EEP file to c:\

4- then open again KP500-Utils-EN.exe software if you close it

write P (Unlock) then ENTER

then write c:\STATIC_EEP and ENTER

unlock code will appear

now turn on the phone, type 2945#*71001#

enter in UNLOCK SIM then NETWORK LOCK then it will ask you for code, type the code you got then phone unlocked

It has taken me all day to fix my phone, I think I have experienced every one of the problems others have encountered, but it is now done so thankyou. This does not work under Windows 7 and everyone please be aware that if you update the software on a phone that has been previously locked (which I was not aware of) it will revert to the locked status.
