I bought this phone the day it came out to replace my HTC Touch.
So far I like the phone but have been disappointed by a couple of things.
The phone has a nice browser that comes included however it is still no where as good as the Opera Mini browser. I installed Opera Mini on this phone and have a problem where the Browser it self works, but My keyboard doesn’t show up on the touch screen which prevents me from being allowed to enter in URLS and actually visit any sites other then the default bookmarks. So Opera Mini at this time is competly useless on the phone.
The second problem I have is Bell wants to charge me $8 per month to access Hotmail and Gmail through the provided e-mail application. This use to cost me nothing to access using my software on the HTC touch and also I was able to install G-Mail and use it freely. Bell store rep hid this fact from me and I can’t even return my phone now since i’ve exceeded the 30 minutes of talk time. So now I have to pay $8 a month to access my e-mails from hotmail and g-mail accounts.
This phone also doesn’t let you install, Goolgle maps, G-Mail App or any other google applications. The GPS software that’s included with the phone costs $10 per month to use. Bell also have blocked the right to install 3rd party software on this phone as well. I have tried installing free GPS apps that work with these LG phones, however some sort of BELL firewall blocks your abilty to even downloads these free GPS applications. So be prepared to actually pay to use GPS on your phone as Bell has decided to kill competition with this firewall.
THe pros of this phone are a great layout, quick load up times, fast application launches and the phone doesn’t crash or slow down. The touch screen keyboard i find to be even better then the iphone. This could have been a really good Bell product if they hadn’t put so many application restrictions and dumb charges on this phone.
Let me know about your experainces with the phone,
Take Care,
This phone sucks, has been a nightmare owning it! Bell Rips customers off. You have to spend $8 for e-mail and $10 extra for mobile browser. $18 in hidden charges. Why not spend $7 more per month and get a GSM Based Black Berry from Rogers….a real smart phone.
I recently bought the LG Bliss through Bell and so far have been pretty happy with it – I cannot however say the same for my experience with Bell. I think that the majority of problems that someone might encounter with this phone have to do with restrictions put in place by Bell – as opposed to the phone malfunctioning.
As mentioned before this phone has an excellent touchscreen keyboard which is very responsive; it is extremely light-weight and thin; and the backgrounds can all be changed (assuming that you don’t want yellow flowers on your ‘contacts’ page).
As for the hidden charges, I would not recommend ANY PHONE that is solely offered by Bell to anyone who plans on using email/IM/GPS/basically anything requiring a data plan very often because Bell’s service is very expensive and they will charge you for anything that they can get away with.
However, that is once again a problem with Bell and NOT the LG Bliss.
The LG Bliss is a solid data-phone, but until it becomes available through another service provider, it should only really be used as a cell-phone.
If a smartphone is what you want, you will have to find a company other than Bell to get it.
you can access webiste really fast, and if you get the unlimited mobile browser (for $7/month) you can check your hotmail or gmail accounts by logging in (instead of using dedicated icon, use shortcut and save $) Games are fun and depend on the motion of the phone ie throwing darts and playing baseball. very customizable, i was scared @first but love it now !
This is not a ’smartphone’, it does not have an operating system such as windows mobile or blackberrys os, it is a premium phone
I bought the LG Bliss less than a week ago and I’ve already had to return it. The problem is the phone keeps shutting down and rebooting itself. Sometimes during calls, sometimes not. I returned it for a second one yesterday and it has already begun the same problem. Has anyone else had this problem? I don’t have any apps loaded to it except US Cellular email. It is very frustrating. Almost whenever an email is received by the phone, it shuts down to receive? I don’t see anything listed here on the blog about this? Have I gotten two bad ones or is it something I’m doing? Thanks.
So far mine is fine.. I got the internet package with 1K minutes for 7x.00 a month.. I have installed a few apps, including the email app which integrates with yahoo.. I want to know if anyone knows how to get a Bible App?
can i flash the bliss to pageplus
I have had the same shutting down/rebooting issue. Mine has also has had the phone lock up & I had to pull the battery out to re-start the phone. The web browser is sooo slow to. I’m trading it in for a Blackberry this afternoon-
i am thinking about buying one of these…do you recommend it? i am getting it through us cellular.
I currently have the lg rumor and am thinking about getting the lg bliss. the rumor is horrible so i’m thinking that any phone can be better than it. do you recommend the bliss?
this is a good phone better keyboard then i phone and a great call quality the ringers are sick to
I have had the LG Bliss since Sept. 19th. I have had no problems with it except the Keyboard key recognition software could be better. 3 days ago my touchscreen DIED! US Cellular said it could take 3 weeks to 2 months to repair. I had the phone just 6 weeks and was told I could not get a replacement. I think this is wrong for a new phone! I think the replacement period should be for 90 days!
i got my lg bliss in august and so far its had the odd glitch but i found that pictures do not automatically save to my phone i have to hit “send” for it to save to my phone (even with the memory card in) then exit the camera and start all over again.
does anyone know how to change this so it automatically saves them?
My phone’s touch screen is doing weird things. Every time i hit a letter it types the letter that is opposite. And a few days ago half my screen frooze. I have had it less than a month.
I currently have the LG rythm. ANd it SUCKS!!!! I have had it for a year and it has died already!!! I’m thinking about getting the LG bliss do you recomend it?
To automatically save pictures turn on the camera, click on the tools icon on the bottom left ( looks like a gear ) then select more the select auto save.
i have an lg bliss, and had to return it after it continually froze on me and rebooted at random times. I dont reccommend this phone to anyone because of the problems it seems to propose. I just got my replacement phone and already when i call someone and connect i cant navigate around my phonelike i use to on my other bliss, the screen just goes black and i cant use speaker phone either?? can someone help me??
I love my bliss when I first got it. Here ae some of the problems that I have encountered; it freezes up, it will power down and then back up, and I notice that this usually occurs when the bak of the phone gets hot. this may be the problem. The phone gets to hot and starts to malfunctions. Who knows. I still enjoy my phone because of the easy access. I have free natvigation with no charges and I get access for free with all my other apps. So i will stck it out. Usually all new phones have cliches and usually they will get it right.
how do i download apps??
According to a Bell Rep at a Bell Store, The LG Bliss phone has been a disaster in terms of sales and customer satisfaction with the product. I was told that Bell is pulling the plug on this phone and won’t be ordering anymore from LG.
I agree also, my LG Bliss is a paper weight that recives calls, totally useless for anything else.
I have had my LG Bliss for several weeks now and the only problem I have encountered is when I try to send picture messages, it locks up. It didn’t do this at first, a new thing. But other wise, it’s a great phone. It’s not a regular phone, it’s not a smart phone, it’s an in-between phone. checking e-mail is easy..i can even check my pop accounts on it. i also recently figured out how to watch videos on youtube. if i could afford it, i would have more of the apps and games but they cost $$ monthly to use them, nothing extra to download them. but my home charge cable is also a USB cable so i don’t have to pay for music downloads because i load music to my bliss just like it were an mp3 player. i don’t waste money downloading backgrounds, i just google what i want on my laptop, save it and then connect my bliss to my laptop through USB and upload them from there. much cooler phone than my lg rumor. the rumor was a great phone (i washed it, dried it, ran over it with my car! all by accident though). i used it for 2 years and the only problem i had was it would lock up but that ended when i got a new battery (battery swap). anyway, long story short….the lg bliss appears to be a great phone. fun to play with. if your bored on a car ride, it’s a cool toy to play with.
Any one how and where I can download gmail mobile app for my LG Bliss phone?
does any one know how to put music on it???
How do you download photos from the LG Bliss to your computer?
I just got my LG a week ago today and since yesterday it has been shutting off and turning back on. is this normal? i find this annoying because bell doesn’t have any other phones that im interested in. should i return it?
I love mine!!
I also dislike the downloading problems
Is anyone having problems playing their music on the Bliss. I’ve loaded about 8 GB of music on it, but it won’t play about 25% of the songs. The phone gives me an error message. When I connect the phone to my computer and play those songs they work fine. When I pulled out the sd card and put it in a friends phone those songs played fine. Went to a bell kiosk and asked them to put my sd card in another Bliss, and guess what? Those songs don’t play. WTF??? Bell doesn’t have an answer for me, and LG doesn’t have an answer for me.
I tried downloading a bunch of different media players, but Bell has block the use of any of them.
Now What?
