i’ve upgrade it firmware on my bl40. after flashing i write manually on mob all setting my cell phone provider (is asian? version). it have some little changed but work ok. i’ve used for flashing this version of: KP500-Utils-EN.exe – v.0.4.0.0, IFWD_DownloadDll.dll -v.4.32.0.0, LGMobileDL.dll – v.1.0.0.156, LGMUpgradeDL.dll – v.1.1.2.7, infineon installed – v.1.0.0.6 and B2CAppSetup.exe installed – v.1.0.1.7). it’s take ab. 5min.

-install standard LG_PCSuiteIV (apps and drivers)
-connect BL40 and make backup own files
-download this pack http://rapidshare.com/files/430212508/LGUtils.rar
-unpack it on drive c:
-open it and install ‘setup’ (infineon drivers)
- install ‘B2CAppSetup’
- connect your mob (in pc suite)
- close pc suite
- open KP500-Utils-EN (on drive c:)
- in new opened window choose ‘I’
- write your mob model [bl40]
- choose firmware file (if you down it and placed on c: [example:c:\V10G_00.kdz]
- write again filename without extension kdz [eg. V10G_00]
- now you may drink some coffee and waiting till end
- after ~5 min you have new firmware
- now you may backup your files (if you have some)

i used now hongkong firmware v10g_00, maybe it little faster than other but without fm transmitter (who used it?)
i’ve delete (in LGAPP\Media\Flex) all files and write there Open EU flex file, after factory reset my phone choose automatically my phone provider and work fine.

find and press factory reset.
will be great (if you do not delete some files using apps like efs tool)

built in wisepilot gps is payable option. some people used we-travel.
4 flashing your mob search “KP500-Utils” – is very simple app and work 100%. admin deleted my post with links.

Hi, i have version E from the LG update.. it messed up my phone.. everytime i not try to update. it says “new software update” but it ALWAYS jams up at 40% .. left it running for over a week and its still 40%.. so gave up.

now my GPS won’t be detected its always “GPS UNAVALIBLE” its VERY slow.. it takes me 40 minutes to open my music, it takes 3 minutes to make a call..

and theres NO HELP FROM LG AT ALL AND NO INSTRUCTIONS! the software download from the guide DOES NOT WORK. (i found the right files and everything) but when i run the software it says “all COM ports idle” how do I load version G (without damage/bricking)

I recently got the BL40 (Avatar edition) that came with V10e and I followed Ben’s guide above (Ben on 11 November, 2010 at 9:45 am) and updated to V10h (BL40-MSM76XX-V10h-MAY-12-2010-XX) successfully. So far so good. The browser seems to be more stable.

BTW, what is the best or latest firmware? It seems depending on what country, the firmware is different. Sucks, LG does not support updates for this phone anymore.

i think last one EU is 10D_04.kdz, HK is 10G_00.kdz and AU, TW, KOR etc. V10H_00.kdz. it’s too bad! btw BL40 still a good phone.
greatest file capacity is v10G_00 – hongkong, maybe is last one fw from lg?

Chad, give v10h a try.

Watabam, plug in and quickly plug out, then restart your phone. It worked for me. It doesn’t seem to happen to me after v10h.

probably u not install some drivers, which one OS u used?
install once again infineon drivers, B2CAppSetup from lg site,
before flashing u must close pc suite and after that run KP500-Utils-EN. try again slowly.

i’ve change my cell phone then… try below:
- turn on cell phone and connect to pc – try on ‘LGMDP’ right connection: in ‘LG 3G Mobil’ window choose ‘Tools’, ‘service programming’, in new opened window check ‘read from phone’ (check in new window right port connection). – - if everything ok u have data in second window.
- press exit.
now try flashing your mob:
- open KP500-Utils-EN (on drive c:)
- in new opened window choose ‘I’
- write your mob model [bl40]
- choose firmware file [eg:c:\V10G_00.kdz]
- write again filename without extension kdz [eg. V10G_00]
- after few mins you have new firmware
- if mob not flashing… u must try other options: i think you’ve lost some files then you need write lost files (via ‘EFS Tool’ – ‘EFS File Explorer’) but for that u need extracted LGAPP folder.

- press & KEEP pressed together 3 buttons ‘Volume up’ and ‘Volume down’ and ‘Lock’
- connect USB cable to phone
- on LCD appear ‘Emergency mode’

- in call mode tap 3845#*40# (enter to service menu)
- in service menu find and check ‘factory reset’ (nothing more!)
probably after that phone will work fine (revert to default modify your personal setup!)

i already try that for million times, but still the music player keep loading forever

sorry, i’ve no time 2 explain everyones flashing procedure step by step.
be careful and make it yourself. if phone’s not break mechanically then flashing and restore 2 life ever possible.
read once more guide on top and try (understand too) – no success? try again!

hello. i have a problem with my bl40…in last period my phone go in standb-y mode ( the lg sign flash on my display) and need to remove battery to try to come back to normal…but not works everytime…if i want to make a back-up same…he is going in stand-by..i dont’t know what can i do…so if someone knew..please help me. have a great new year!!

I am facing a recurring issue with my LG BL 40 Handset which is updated with the latest firmware. The issue is with the handsfree. Once I have connected the handsfree with the phone and later on when disconnected it, the icon representing handsfree still shows up on the phone. Although i tried options like channging the phone answering mode to handset and a few more trials i.e. changing the radio option to speaker, still the issue remains the same. I am using handsfree like an idiot everytime and it doesnt look very nice. The only way i am able to take / make a call or listen to songs is by handsfree only. Please help me with this. I tried contacting the local LG support center but they are a bunch of loons as they reset my phone, updated the software but it wasnt of much help. SOS… help needed urgently

My phone displays LG Logo followed by the message: “Creating DB File Please wait…” in a white box (will never stop until the battery is removed). Did exactly what Ben advised to press the Volume up and down buttons simultaneously but nothing happen. Please help! Thanks.

Before flashing firmware check the battery level (full recommended), use direct USB port – not usb hub.
Before flashing in “LGMDP_EURO” select “Tools\ NV Backup” and make backup this file (after flashing sometimes you needs restore this file – when phone don’t launch).
Press and keep pressed “Volume up” + “Volume down” + “Lock” buttons then connect USB cable.
In flash app select right “com port” to connect BL40 (sometimes needs changing default “auto search”).
Path firmware file must be on disk c:\.
If it was branding phone put in emergency mode maybe difficult (only 1st time flashing, 2nd time is easy).
Flashing in Emergency Mode take more times than ‘ordinary’ flashing.
Don’t give up!

But now I need to enter manually network – I don’t see it even in list of the manual selection.

For any1 with music player issues, check MAIN menu > phone settings > memory info > handset reserved memory / external memory. If they are full, free up some of this space. Your music player should work now. If you’re having issues with hands free icon, plug in headphones, play music, and unplug while music is playing. If music plays over speakers, it’s fixed. The problem is with the physical plug socket (not software related). Mr. Ben, I did an update and I now have an envelope icon with an “e” and an exclamation mark (
!). Any idea of how to get rid of it? Thanks.
