How to Tether LG Optimus V

We’ve been loving “quick settings” app, which is a complete free software that creates an ad-hoc wireless network and allows you to tether your computer using your LG Optimus V Android Phone’s internet connection. LG Phone Problem and Solution

Ok, to start, you need to set up your LG Optimus V: LG Android Phones

  1. Download and install the "quick settings" app from the market
  2. Open it and press menu>customize
  3. Move the wifi hotspot up to be in the visible settings
  4. Turn it on.

Note: you cannot turn it on in settings in the phone but once its on using quick settings, you can go into settings and set up a password for your network.  LG-Optimus info

Recently purchase an LG Optimus V– my first smartphone. Was recommended to turn off background apps to conserve battery. Having done that -now the two clocks on home page drift behind real time when phone is not in use. Advise on restoring clocks to proper time appreciated.

its easy i did it just go to app world download a teether app on you home screen press a empty spot that dont have a app should pop widget app and find the theether app and use it simple i get free internet on my laptop from virgin lg optimus v all for 25 bucks cool

Actually, the LG Optimus V creates an infrastructure wifi hotspot NOT ad-hoc. I know becasue I can wirelessly tether to my rooted Nook Color which cannot see ad-hoc networks unless modified to do so.

Thanks for the tip about the Quick Settings app. I’ve had it on my phone for a couple of months, but didn’t know that the Wi-Fi hotspot option was there because it was hidden.

I have used the quicksetting apps to tether 6GB last 2 weeks of my monthly $40 plan with VM. I dont know, but expecxt continued tethering next month may result in 10GB+ next month. My high use is mostly from watching tethered steaming video- It does say unlimited video in the fine print, but not unlimited downloads.

how is the speed compared to att&t, verizon and sprint? how long does it take for a page to load using virgin mobile on your laptoP?

I have just read that Sprint will started throttling back service on those Virgin Mobile users who exceed 2.5gigs/month. Be prepared. I tether on my Optimus V, but only at the airport and things like that. If you are streaming video on your laptop with this, get ready for painfully slow data :(

only works on V 2.2.1.
2.2.2 removes hotspot ability.

For Lg Optimus V Android 2.2.2., I followed this youtube video and was able to use wifi tether for root users for an ad hoc wireless connection to my laptop.

Can I snyc my LG Optimus Q from Straight Talk with my computer? It did not come with any software, is software availble for transferring file, pictures, sounds etc?

im looking to buy this phone i know its goint to be the updated 2.2.2 software but by getting this app will i be able to tether my laptop to it?

Virgin with Froyo 2.2.2 disabled wifi tethering: As soon as you use QuickSetting to turn on, 3G gets disabled. This page should be removed, since this feature is no longer available.
