After playing around my LG Renoir, i have discovered that on firmwares later than November 2008 (so d,g,g,j,k,k) you can save a fair bit of handset memory, with an after effect of making the phone faster loading lists by doing something very strange.

Deleting every .jpg and .png you can find in the swf folder and all its subfolders, except the flashmenu/icons folder. LG-Renoir info

Presumably this is a debugging tool left behind by the developers since every one of those images are either already embedded in the relevant .swf or .pxo.gz file.
i found this out by thinking “what the heck its worth a go and i can always reflash”
