This guide will show you how to unlock bootloader, install CWM recovery and root LG Optimus L9.

All things you will need:

How to root LG Optimus L9 Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

  1. After installing the JB update, make sure you have a SIM in your phone and let it stay on for at least 30 continuous minutes. This is important!. If you skip this step, you may end up with a permanently locked device.
  2. Enable USB debugging in the developer options, and plug your device to PC
  3. Download the “UnlockL9” zip file and extract to C:\ of your PC
  4. Run Flash_bootloader.bat (this will unlock bootloader, and reboots your phone into fastboot mode)
  5. Run Execute Flash_recovery.bat (this will install Clockworkmod recovery)
  6. Reboot into recovery by Hold vol up + home button and power button and release power button at vibration
  7. Flash
  8. reboot en enjoy

I have tried this on my LG Optimus L9 P760, it works like charm. However, use this at your own risk, I have no responsibility for any damage of your phone. Good luck.

I finally rooted my L9 :)
I am using p765 v20a India, so Atish910 u can use this method too. I followed below mentioned steps.

1) I choose each of the 5 options that are present for usb connection and let system install all the drivers, after that I did not get “when i run Flash_recovery.bat….waiting for device…”, could not use the same system which I used last time as drivers were not getting installed on it.

2) Followed steps 1 to 5 mentioned in the post, after which phone got restarted itself(“Hold vol up + home button and power button” did not work for me :))

3)After few tries when nothing happened I tried “Reboot2Recovery”, and that boot the phone in recovery mode. This is what I was trying since last night.

4) After that I just googled for “apply supersu from clockworkmod recovery” and flush SuperSu. Thats what I did to Root my L9.

Best of luck everyone. Dont forget to install all the drivers. :)

About the “waiting for device” problem:
Go to device manager
Find “Android” in unknown devices
Choose Update driver and browse all of C:
It will find the driver and everything will be OK 😉 Good luck
