How to Root LG Optimus G Pro Android 4.4.2 Kitkat

Welcome all LG Optimus G Pro users, this is a full guide that will help you gain root access for system modifications and root required applications.

  • Battery charged more than 50%

I have performed these exact steps and have successfully rooted my LG Optimus G Pro. So if you’re worried. Don’t be. After attempting this I haven’t noticed any issues either.

How to Root LG Optimus G Pro with Android 4.4.2 Kitkat:

  1. Download and extract the IOroot25 zip
  2. Make sure your phone is in USB Debugging mode. Plug phone to PC.
  3. Set USB mode to Charging only
  4. Make sure ADB has been installed, and ADB has the proper permission
  5. Run script and follow the onscreen instructions.
    • Windows: Double-click on root.bat
    • Linux: cd into IOroot folder -> chmod +x -> ./
    • Mac: cd into /IOroot/mac folder -> chmod +x -> ./
  6. Confirm root with rootchecker.

Manual Root Method:

  1. Follow the steps 1-4 above
  2. Open command window, type:
    • adb devices
    • adb reboot recovery (when booted in recovery, select: ‘apply update from adb’ with power button)
    • adb sideload
  3. reboot when zip finishes flashing. done.
  4. Confirm root with rootchecker.
