For the record, rooting causes a violation of the garantuee policy of LG. Furthermore there is a possibility of damaging the Android-system(bricking). This has not happened as far as I know, but it should be mentioned. As advanced user it is usually always possible to recover the system, but still, just to let you know.

Following is the guide about how to root the AT&T LG G2 D800 with the newest Android 4.4.2 Kitkat OS.

All things you will need:

How to Root AT&T LG G2 D800 with Android 4.4.2 Kitkat:

  1. Download and extract the IOroot25 zip
  2. Make sure your phone is in USB Debugging mode. Plug phone to PC.
  3. Set USB mode to Charging only
  4. Make sure ADB has been installed, and ADB has the proper permission
  5. Run script and follow the onscreen instructions.
    • Windows: Double-click on root.bat
    • Linux: cd into IOroot folder -> chmod +x root.sh -> ./root.sh
    • Mac: cd into /IOroot/mac folder -> chmod +x root.sh -> ./root.sh
  6. Confirm root with rootchecker.

Manual Root Method:

  1. Follow the steps 1-4 above
  2. Open command window, type:
    • adb devices
    • adb reboot recovery (when booted in recovery, select: ‘apply update from adb’ with power button)
    • adb sideload kk_root.zip
  3. reboot when zip finishes flashing. done.
  4. Confirm root with rootchecker.

PS: This guide works on all versions of the All LG G2 D800.
