The purpose of this guide is to help newbies of the LG Nexus 4 to return their phone back to the state it was when you opened the box.

All things you will need:

Instructions on how to Return LG Nexus 4 Back to Stock:

  1. Extract “ADB and fastboot” files somewhere on your PC, you will get a “nexus4-adb-fastboot” folder and some fastboot files
  2. Extract the LG Nexus 4 Factory Image and copy all files into the directory of “nexus4-adb-fastboot” folder
  3. Open a command prompt window on the computer, Navigate to where the Fastboot program is located. For example:
    • cd nexus4-adb-fastboot
  4. Boot your phone to fastboot mode. Power off the phone, press and hold both Volume Down and Power buttons in the same time. Plugged your phone to computer via usb cable and type:
    • fastboot-windows reboot bootloader
  5. To make sure that your phone has successfully connected to your computer, type the command:
    • fastboot-windows devices
  6. Optional: Wipe all your old everything from your LG Nexus 4, this may sometimes avoid bugs when restoring.
    • fastboot-windows erase boot
    • fastboot-windows erase cache
    • fastboot-windows erase recovery
    • fastboot-windows erase system
    • fastboot-windows erase userdata
  7. Type the following commends to flash your phone back to stock now:
    • fastboot-windows flash bootloader bootloader-mako-makoz10l.img
    • fastboot-windows reboot-bootloader
    • fastboot-windows flash radio radio-mako-m9615a-cefwmazm-2.0.1700.33.img
    • fastboot-windows reboot-bootloader
    • fastboot-windows –w update
  8. You phone will reboot after the process successful completes.

Remember: This tutorial works on windows only. But if you want to use this on a Linux or Mac, you must remember to modify just the beginning part to reference the appropriate file for your system.

  • Linux: type “sudo fastboot-linux” instead of “fastboot-windows”
  • Mac: type “./fastboot-mac … … …” instead of “fastboot-windows”
