The official Android 4.4.3 Kitkat KOT49H OTA Update file for the LG Nexus 5 is now available for download. But the 4.4.3-KTU84F-from-4.4.2-KOT49H OTA file is still unavailable.

This tutorial is for those of you that are running the stock ROM, rooted, with a custom kernel, and you want to retain root after the OTA; follow this great detailed walkthrough now:

All things you will need:

Instructions:

  1. Downloaded factory image to your PC
  2. Unzip the file to get the system.img and boot.img files
  3. Place both files into the adb folder
  4. Download and place the SuperSU-v1.80.zip on your phone’s internal storage
  5. Download and place the OTA update zip (“KOT49H from KRT16M” or “KOT49H from KOT49E”) on your phone’s internal storage
  6. Rename it to ota.zip
  7. Reboot your phone into bootloader
  8. Open command prompt from your adb folder
  9. connect USB cable, then type:
    • fastboot devices   (check the connection)
    • fastboot flash system system.img
    • fastboot flash boot boot.img
  10. Use volume and power buttons to boot into recovery (TWRP)
  11. Install ota.zip
  12. Install SuperSU-v1.80.zip
  13. Clear dalvik and cache
  14. Reboot phone

Although the latest 4.4.3-KTU84F-from-4.4.2-KOT49H OTA isn’t available for now, but we believe this guide will work on it as well.
