For those of you who have bricked your LG Spirit 4G (perhaps ended up in a bootloop), want to return to stock firmware (because you forgot to make a backup ROM!), or you want to return your Spirit 4G back to LG Service center for warranty, here’s how to unroot/unbrick your LG Spirit 4G with stock firmware.

All things you will need:

Getting into Emergency Mode (Download Mode)

How to Flash a bricked LG Spirit 4G back to Stock:

  1. Install phone drivers
  2. Install msxml.msi
  3. Disable antivirus software
  4. Open UpTestEX_mod2_marwin.exe
  5. Wait for the program to open
  6. Look for “Encrypt cab file to kdz file”
  7. Click the folder icon
  8. Choose the location of the cab you downloaded for MS870 firmware
  9. Encrypt cab -> kdz Program will freeze up. DO NOT EXIT until program shows the location of the new file!!! Otherwise it won’t finish converting.
  10. Close program
  11. Open KDZ_FW_UPD.exe
  12. “Type” choose CDMA
  13. Choose in “Phonemode”: Emergency
  14. Click the folder icon and choose the kdz file that UpTestEX_mod2_marwin.exe just made.
  15. Click Launch software update and enjoy!

I’ve rerun through the whole process a couple of times, and my device is STILL bricked. Help?

I seriously love you guys. Seriously.

I know this may not the place post this, but since your backup worked, how do I know you didn’t splice the APK program with something that would trace my typing? Since programs/apps for smartphones are the fastest growing medium for malware and viruses…

How can use semi-noobies protect ourselves? Mobile VPNs or something like that? I’d greatly appreciate a point in the right direction

P.S. I just tried to re-root my phone today and it says that the SU file is read only. Additionally, this is a different firmware that I originally had on my phone running. Similar but not identical. Can you point me in the right direction to find the original firmware with the SU file intact so I can re-root?
