To get to the LG Viewty factory reset type 3845#*990# in the dialpad, this will bring up the Test Mode, then scroll down to option 8 – Factory Reset, click OK and your LG Viewty will reset. LG-Viewty info

Note: Be Careful People! This will reset everything on the phone, you will lose you personal settings & anything stored in the handset memory, so back up first.

How to remove Theme Manager from LG Viewty

I just found this tutorial on mygreatphone forum. Hopefully this will help a lot of you to remove the great Theme Manager from your LG Viewty.

Caution: Please read all of these instructions before attempting to do anything! Very time remember to back-up your firmware first so that if any mistakes are made then you can restore your LG Viewty back to working order. LG-Viewty info

How to Remove Theme Manager from LG Viewty steps:

1. In the same way that you installed theme manager, connect to EFS, so that you have the SWF folder open in the top half and in the bottom half the same, or just the files;
theme_bg2.swf
widget2.swf
nyx_viewtyx.swf
widget4.swf is an additional file supplied by TM so needs deleting rather than copying back.

2. Now you just right click and choose "write" on each of these files in the bottom half so that they copy back to the phone in the top half
There shouldn’t be any need to rename LGAPP to TOTO for this process, but if you get errors then go ahead and do this.

3. Last thing to do is to delete the theme folder from either your memory card or from the theme folder located at LGAPP/Media/Swf/Theme if you used your phones memory

LG Phone tips – Changing the resolution of the java games

Extract the jar file by using the Winzip
Open the ‘META-INF’ folder
You will see a file called ‘MANIFEST.MF’, open it in notepad
Now you must know 2 things to edit the file. First, you must know the original resolution of the game. Ususally this information can be found on the author’s website. Second, you must know the resolution of your screen. Then type the following two lines at the end of the text in the MANIFEST.MF file:
Nokia-MIDlet-Original-Display-Size: www,xxx
Nokia-MIDlet-Target-Display-Size: yyy,zzz
In the example above ‘www,xxx’ represents the original resolution of the game. ‘yyy,zzz’ represents the resolution of your phone’s display.
In the picture example below, the original game resolution is 176×208 and the target resolution of my screen (N80) is 352×416.5.
Now save the changes in the MANIFEST.MF file and drag it back into the META-INF folder in your jar file to overwrite the old one.
That’s it! Now install the jar to your phone and enjoy your full screen game…

Download Google maps jar or jad
Menu>Settings>Map>Map types>Add Custom Map
Map Type Name: GoogleMap
Map Type URL:http://mt.google.com/mt save
Menu>Settings>Map>Stored maps
Stored maps V

Choose one of the following two: LG Cell phone Software
batch download: Open your browser, navigate to http://www.mgmaps.com/create, select the area you want to download. Click Generate and save the .map file on your computer. Back in gMapMaker, select "MGMaps mode, use a .map file" as the operating mode then click "Go" and select the .map file saved.

single area: Enter the coords, select the zoom level and map type for the area to download. Make sure the cache folder path ends with "MGMapsCache". Make sure you have selected "MGMaps mode, use entered area" as the operating mode. Click "Go".
When the download is ready, you’ll find all the map tiles in the selected MGMapsCache folder. Just copy this folder with all its subfolders to your memory card and configure MGMaps to use it. Move the map in MGMaps to the area/zoom level you downloaded map tiles for – use Menu->Go To and enter the coordinates, zoom level and map type.
The application can also use a set of proxies for satellite imagery download in order to avoid having your IP address temp-banned by Google (which happens if you download many satellite tiles in a short time). UPDATE: To improve proxy functionality in gMapMaker, WideCap (successor of FreeCap) works perfectly… or anyway better than the integrated proxy support. LG-Viewty info

Step by step - install Google Maps on the LG Viewty

1. Adjust the Applications & Games Settings

2. Unlock the LG Viewty go to the main menu and launch the Browser. LG Cell phone Software

3. Enter the following web address for Google Maps – www.google.co.uk/gmm .

4. You will be taken to a page headed with the link ‘Download Google Maps (version 2.0.2) on your LG Nyx’. (LG Nyx is what the US calls the LG Viewty – probably because they realised what a silly name it was). Click on the link to download it. You may see an alert saying that the application is ‘untrusted’. Click on Yes to continue the download. LG-Viewty info

5. Select Launch and click on the OK button to launch Google Maps. When prompted to access handset files or the Internet select Allow until exit and click on OK.

6. Congratulations! Google Maps should now be running on your LG Viewty.

1. Unlock the LG Viewty and click on the shortcut icon with four dots at the bottom left of the screen. LG Phone Problem and solution

2. Click on the Multimedia icon – it looks like a film clapperboard – in the vertical tab bar on the right of the screen. LG-Viewty info

3. Click on Games & Apps.

4. In the Games & Apps menu click on Settings.

5. In the Settings menu you should see a link on mobile operators’ Internet settings. Select your service provider and click on Activate. If your mobile operator isn’t listed click on the button at the bottom left of the screen – a rectangle with three horizontal lines – and click Add new.

6. In the form, fill in the various fields. Check with your mobile operator if they require a proxy – if it doesn’t select TCP without proxy as your connection mode. You will then only need to fill in the Service name and choose the correct Access point.
