The AT&T LG Shine(TM) was my third LG phone and I loved it! It is a great phone for clumsy people like myself. I dropped it so much and both the screen and phone never broke! I’m usually impatient too so the shine made my life easier. You can click certain numbers to automatically go to certain things in your menu screen such as pics, vids, txt inbox, etc (like speed dialing for your menu). That’s probably one of the features I’ll miss the most. The memory is amazing! I took so many pictures and still had a lot of memory.

Although I loved it I could live without a few things. The AT&T LG Shine(TM) was heavy and very bulky. The battery life would last less than a day so you have to charge it often or talk/text less. The reason why I’m not using my shine now (even though it lasted one and half years) is because I was having charging issues. I would have to play with the charger chord so that my phone would charge. I think it was just my phone though…
Over all I highly recomend this phone for clumsy and impatient people. although it is bulky, it is way better than it breaking when you drop it."

Unlock LG U400 Shine

This is a toturial on how to Enter Unlock Codes on LG U400 Shine (2 codes needed):
1:Insert the network SIM in the handset which works with the phone (from the locked carrier). LG-Shine info
2:Enter 2945#*88110#.
3:The LG U400 will then prompt ‘Unlock sim’. Press OK.
4:The LG U400 will then prompt ‘Network Unlock’. Press OK.
5:The LG U400 will then prompt- ‘Input Network Control Key’. Enter the 8 digit unlocking code. Press OK. If the unlocking code comes with only 7 digits, add a 0 in front of the 7 digit code. If the unlocking code comes with only 6 digits, add 00 in front of the 6 digit code. If you received a 16 digit code, enter it. The phone will have space for it.
6:It should give you the message: Success.
7:Come back to the main screen and Enter 2945#*88110#.
8:The phone will then prompt unlock sim. Press OK.
9:The phone will then prompt Network Unlock/ Lock but if you scroll down
10 :you will see a message Enter SP Lock. Enter SP Code.
Then press OK.

LG Shine TU720 – Bypass Java security

This method let you know how to bypass the Java security restrictions imposed on the LG Shine TU720 which require the user to accept every request for data communication, for all but Rogers signed applications. LG-Shine info

What kind of apps could benefit from this? Gmail mobile, Google Maps, Opera mobile browser, etc.

* disclaimer: this works for me but I can’t guarantee it won’t turn you phone into a pretty looking brick *

OK, here’s the procedure. The first few points are the same as for ringtones.
Requirements:

Latest BitPim software from www.bitpim.org (tested with 1.0.2)
LG phone tools software (provided in box)
USB cable (provided in box)

Instructions:

Install software listed above
Hook up LG Shine TU720
Launch BitPim
BitPim should show “Other CDMA phone on COMx” (where x is the COM port being used)
Choose Edit, Settings
Change Phone Type to “LG-VX8700″ (this is the CDMA version Shine)
Click OK to close
Choose View, View Filesystem
Click the Filesystem icon
Click the expand button beside “/”
It will say “Retrieving” for a minute or two
Expand to the following directory: /LGAPP/Media/Java/cert
Right-click on the file “rogers.pol” and select “Save …”, then save it to a location on your computer
MAKE A BACKUP COPY OF THE ORIGINAL FILE (just in case!)
Open the file with WordPad or another editor (Notepad does not display it correctly, not recommended)
You will notice the file is in sections. Go to the end of the file to the section headed by “domain: untrusted”
Delete everything under that header (but leave the header alone), and replace it with everything copied from the section “domain: C=CA;O=Rogers Wireless;CN=Rogers Wireless Test Root CA”
Save your changes (you did make a backup, right?)
Back in BitPim, right-click on the “cert” folder and select “New File …”
Select the new “rogers.pol” file you modified, and overwrite the existing file
Disconnect and reboot the phone, you’re all set to go!

A few more things you might be interested in:

You will need to re-install existing applications. The security seems to be set at install time, so whatever apps you have installed you should remove and re-install.
Proof that Rogers is evil – look at the cingular.pol file. It allows for application signed by any trusted source. The rogers.pol file only allows for apps signed by Rogers. This goes well beyond just wanting to protect the customer from bad applications!
This edit makes the phone completely trust any java application, so make sure you know what you’re installing before you install it!

It is solution to crazy keypad(LG KE970 Shine). Any keys work, another not, sometimes without touching start to repeat some arbitrary digit. So that is solution… LG-Shine info

If removing J301 not solve your problem it´s because the other ic like J301 is damaged , it is placed in the left ( down) side of the scroll key.

I had the problem with keys 2,5,8 ,0 and power key ( only powered on and not off) .
The numeric keyboard is connected to the navigation keys by the flex cable that´s why the problem. LG Phone Problem and solution

If you want you can just remove it but i advice you to replace for a working one.
