It is always necessary to flash the GAPPS package along side your Rom install since Google Apps are not open source like Android itself. Gapps can’t be distributed inside of the Rom itself they have to be added in their full form afterwards.

Developer Connorh333 took it upon himself to update the Gapps pack. Included in his Gapps is the new Google Hangout, New Music, New Play Store, TalkBack, Gmail, New Mapps, StreetView, and GSMscore!

This has been tested for CyanogenMod 10 B3

What you need:

  • An LG Lucid.
  • Root Access in the LG Lucid.
  • ClockWorkMod Recovery (Not sure if they have TWRP for the Lucid, but it is also untested, but out of common sense it should work.)

How to install:

  1. Flash/Reflash B3. It will keep your stuff, no need to wipe the cache, dalvik cache, or factory reset.
  2. Flash the 4.2 GAPPS [Thank Connorh333 for the GAPPS and link.]
  3. Get a system app uninstaller, uninstall Google Search and uninstall GALLERY!
    • Delete the gallery .apk and Google Search. (/system/app)
    • Delete them and uninstall them if you must.
    • Google Search won’t be named ‘Googlesearch.apk’ or anything similar, just look for the logo.
    • Recommend System App Uninstaller click here.
  4. Go to Google Play, re-install Google Search.
  5. Install the Gallery2.apk
  6. Enjoy 4.2 GAPPS.

Are you looking for a way to get your LG Lucid 4G boot into recovery mode? There probably aren’t many reasons why you’d need to access recovery mode on your LG Lucid 4G at the moment, but you never know when it might come in handy.

How to get the Verizon LG Lucid 4G to boot into recovery steps:

  1. Hold down the power key for 2 seconds
  2. You will be presented with a list of phone options, select the one called "Restart"
  3. A warning message will appear with two options, select "OK"
  4. After the screen blacks out (about 15 secs after step 3) you will see the LG logo.
  5. As soon as you see the LG logo hold down the Volume Down key and the Power key for 12 seconds, then release.
  6. You will now be presented with a blue screen that has an Android Emote in the center and some text in the top left region of the screen
  7. This is the boot recovery screen.

The CyanogenMod 10 is Android 4.1 JB based custom rom that is now working on our LG Lucid 4G VS840. Patches have been applied to the kernel and ROM as required to make it work on the Lucid.

What does not work

  • Front camera
  • Car dock or media dock (phone will still charge on the dock, but the LG "Car Home"/"Desk Home" app is not included in CM and the stock one FCed if ripped)

What should work

  • Send/receive calls, send/receive MMS, 2G/3G/4G
  • WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS (GPS may need to be reset using an app like "GPS Test" followed by ~5-10 minutes with clear view of sky with maps running and screen on)
  • Rear camera and flash
  • Internal storage (mounted on /storage/sdcard1)

How to Install:

The CyanogenMod 10 will only work with the gingerbread bootloader and CWM

  1. When the battery is fully charged
  2. Reboot into CWM
  3. Make a Nandroid backup!
  4. WIPE (wipe data/factory reset + wipe cache partition)
  5. Install the rom
  6. Reboot and enjoy

Like many other Android smartphones, the LG Lucid 4G comes with a lot of bloatware loaded on when it’s out of the box.

These system apps I listed below can be removed without a security error appearing. Tested on my phone without any problem:

  • Kindle books
  • vzw apps
  • backup assistant+
  • lge hotspot
  • gmail
  • google+
  • lets golf
  • messaging widget
  • photo album
  • photo frame
  • plants vs zombies
  • polaris office
  • richnote
  • richnote widget
  • share genie
  • smart share
  • social+
  • vcast tones
  • vz navigator
  • netflix
  • play movies
  • play music

Here is guide about how to do this:

1. Make sure your phone is rooted
2. Use Rom Toolbox Pro ( the lite version of rom toolbox should work as well.)
3. Make your phone in usb internet Ethernet mode with usb debugging enabled while removing the app
4. From there you can remove the list of apps via uninstall- automated(root) mode
5. After it finished removing the apps, reboot the device (do not close the app just hold the power button and press power off and reboot)
6. That’s all. everytime you reboot you will get some cloudservice force close. (do not remove cloudservice app.)
