AT&T LG Incite Smartphone reviews

The AT&T LG Incite Smartphone has a very nice sleek design. It’s lightweight and fits very nicely in your pocket or in a case clipped to your side or your purse. It is a fingerprint magnet, so you will need to get a little cleaning cloth to wipe it down every now and then. The buttons on the outside of the phone work very well and the 3.5 mm headphone jack is great. The battery life is very good. I can get online, play games, and do other things on my phone for hours and still have plenty of battery life to last me the whole day and then some. I’ve had my LG Incite Smartphone on for a couple days and still had a lot of battery life left. My old phone I had to charge it everyday, so I love that I can go a couple days without having to worry about charging it. LG Cell Phone Reviews

LG Incite Smartphone Photos – LG Cell Phone Pictures

The touchscreen is overall very responsive. At first it was hard to get it to respond to small icons like checkboxes, but after using it for a while I’ve found where on the screen I need to press in order for it to recognize my actions and it doesn’t bother me. The items in the Windows Start Menu are don’t respond right away sometimes, but when again after playing around with it I’ve found how to press certain things to get them to work right. All the menus and everything else works great including the full screen QWERTY keyboard. LG-Incite info

It does take up almost the whole screen, but you can hide the menu bar at the bottom and it gives you a little more room to see what you’re typing. The phone dialer responds very well too when you’re typing in a phone number and I love how it plays a different little tune for each number you press! (You can also change this or turn it off if it’s something you don’t like.)

The 3 megapixel camera is really good in my opinion and better than I had anticipated. I took a picture indoors that was kind of low light and the camera automatically lightened the picture up! I was also able to go into ‘My Pictures’ and use the Auto Fix feature to lighten the picture up even more! The camcorder works well too.

I really like how you can customize the phone too. It comes with different themes to choose from and there’s a Favorites Menu that you can customize with 9 apps that you use the most. You can choose what shows up on the Today Screen and in what order they show up too. You can even hide the Today Screen all together. You can use MP3s as ringtones, you just have to make sure they’re about 30 seconds long (which is plenty for a ringtone) for the phone to recognize them as ringtones.

The Wifi works great. It picks up networks from a good distance. My cousin has a iPod Touch and we where sitting in the same spot, she couldn’t get it to pick up any networks, but my Incite picked up two different networks. Wifi is a must for me. I work from home, so when I’m out on the go, I need to be able to check my e-mails and this phone does a great job.

I would definitely say the AT&T LG Incite Smartphone is a great phone. It does take a little time to get used to, so I would recommend it to people who are really good with electronics. It’s not that hard to learn how to use it, but people who just like basic phones, might find it overwhelming."

AT&T LG Incite Hack for Ringtones

Today I have a try to change my AT&T LG Incite phone’s maximum ringtone size in the light of the tutorial below which I found on LG Incite Forum and that works perfectly. So I decide to paste the hack to my blog and share it to you folks. LG-Incite info

Download the following freeware cab (registry editor) from your pc or direct download to the AT&T LG Incite phone. http://freewareppc.com/utilities/phmregistryeditor.shtml

With the cab (registry editor) of your choice, go to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER>Control Panel>Sounds
Then change the key "FileSizeLimit" to whatever size you would like, default is around 300k hence the 300kb ringtone limit… The key is in bytes so if for instance you want to change the limit to 600k you would make the key’s data 600,000 (without comma)
600,000 bytes = 600 kilobytes

Otherwise you can just deleted the "filesizelimit" key, it’s more easy. Hope it helps, Enjoy. LG Phone Problem and solution

The AT&T LG Incite phone has a lots bad reviews on AT&T official website (I think that ia because everyone compares it to the iPhone). I got the Incite one month ago, and now I’m so glad I didn’t buy into the bad reviews. LG Cell phone Reviews

I was a proud LG Shine owner until i went to the AT&T to see what’s free and new (bad habit ) and fell into shock when i saw the LG Incite for free. A Touchscreen phone with a 3 megapixel camera, headphone jack, and WIFI!. I knew i had to have and had a free line left so i did. LG-Incite info

Three days pass. Indeed a small package was next to the door. In it was a Data Cable, a stylus, and a battery (also a AT&T LG Incite with a Battery cover yay!). However i was reading this forum before i received the phone and prepared active sync with .net 3.5. I instantly installed it and let the fun begin. SO MANY FEATURES MY HEAD COULD SPIN. I was connecting to WIFI here and there, and everything was wonderful.

AT&T LG Incite Phone Photos – LG Cell Phone Pictures

More time passes. So many different problems begin. complexions with everything. However i would still stick with the incite thick and thin, And then i found out about Ftouchflo and though "Oh boy finger scrolling" but something went wrong and i could not use my touchscreen. So the first hard reset had to made at 3 days.

It all begins to make sense. When i installed Google Maps on my AT&T LG Incite i could not scroll through the maps at all, and the jog wheel could only move up and down, but i had an idea. I went to Gestures and enabled it for Google maps, and finally i had my first taste of what was to come. Then i knew i had to find a way to hook Incite up to my computer using Removable Storage. I found one app but it didn’t cut the mustard. And then i met WMStorage which was wonderful. i installed all of the S2 apps, and Youtube play but something was missing. A nice Today Screen. I found m2d but simply could not get it to work. Until i discovered Throttle Launcher. And it even had a Thouchflo skin. I also installed Throttle Explorer.

So there you have it after all of the work i put in to it i have made the AT&T LG Incite into my Finger Friendly USB Mass Storage capable device, and you know I don’t want any other phone. I love my AT&T LG Incite.

BE ADVISED:
1) you will no longer be notified that you have a new Voicemail. instead you will be sent a (sometimes multi-page) SMS notification of a transcription {voice to text} of the new Voicemail [this can be turned off] also you will get an email of this same transcription as well as a link to the recording.
2) This tutorial assumes that you have already been accepted into and are fully setup with the Beta program of Google Voice {its free, but there is a waiting list} Sign up now! https://services.google.com/fb/forms/googlevoiceinvite/
3) This is a backward way into using Google Voice, it works perfectly, but it can be a bit daunting to get it setup
4) this will not affect your standard number, people who call you will be automatically connected to your Google Voice account to leave their message just like they did with your old Voicemail
5) if you need help just leave a reply, i will get back to you asap.

WHAT YOU GET:
1) Multiple custom Voicemail greetings (if you prefer) to groups of your contacts, or to a single contact to contact basis.
2) Passcode protected, unlimited, archived, and searchable voicemail messages presented in a Gmail-like fashion that is accessible on the internet and your phone
4) bleeding edge technology you can brag about to your friends

HOW TO DO IT:
Step 1: Get a pencil and paper to write your old voicemail number down (SAVE THIS NUMBER SO YOU CAN GO BACK IF YOU NEED TO!) {i have it saved in my email, just in case}
Step 2: On your incite: Go to Start>Settings>Phone> and chose the [Services] tab
Step 3: Select [Call Forwarding] and tap [Get Settings...] button, the phone will connect to the network now and retrieve the information stored on the network concerning your Voicemail and other Forwarding Information
Step 4: You should now see 4 boxes, the top should be empty, the lower 3 should have a number in them starting with +1. Write down the number that appears in the 3 boxes (the number is the same in all of them) This is your current number of your standard carrier Voicemail, SAVE IT AND DON’T DELETE IT FOR NOW
Step 5: Go to your Computer and log-in to your Google Voice account and go to [Settings] in the upper right corner of the browser window.
Step 6: Make sure the following changes are dealt with:
Enable Screening: Unchecked [it asks unknown callers to state their name] {OPTIONAL}
Enable "Do Not Disturb": Checked [this directly connects the caller to your Voicemail] {IMPORTANT}
Transcribe Voicemail: Checked [Google tries to turn your Voicemail to text.] {OPTIONAL}
Step 7: Click [Save Changes]
Step 8: Enter your Google Voice Number into the lower 3 boxes within the [Call Forwarding] window on your phone including +1 in front of your number
Step 9: Tap OK in the upper right corner of your phone
Step 10: Ask a friend to call you, and try it out!
Step 11: Throw a cookie at me if it works and you like it!

TO CHECK YOUR VOICEMAIL:
A) Call your Google Voice number from your mobile phone, enter your passcode and listen to your messages!
B) Check your Google Voice Account on the web, here you can read and also listen to your messages. you may also delete, archive and search for them and generally manage your messages.
C) your mobile browser: www.google.com/voice/m

TO GET YOUR OLD VOICEMAIL BACK:
if you ever want to change back to the old voicemail, just enter it into the 3 boxes your Google Voice number currently occupies within the Call Forwarding are of your phone.

TROUBLESHOOTING:
if it comes back with an error as you are accessing the Call Forwarding area of your phone, you are not in the network service area, this happened to me, just move about till you get some bars of service and give it another go.

SIDE NOTES:
A) There is currently no official Windows Mobile application that you can use with Google Voice. i modified this tutorial from a Gizmodo article that featured this for an Android phone. once Google releases an app i am sure you will be notified in other ways than the Email and SMS modes.
B) Link to Gizmodo Tutorial, if you are curious: http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2009/06/29/hack-use-google-voice-to-add-visual-voicemail-to-your-g1-dream/
C) There is a great deal more to Google Voice than this, but i think this is the most useful application i have come across for us win-mo users. LG Phone Problem and solution

A few questions you should know before buying the LG Incite, I have done some searching on the net and finally found the answers. LG Phone Problem and solution

1) When u DL something like games, is it best to DL to the memory card except for antivirus? LG-Incite info
Most of the time yes, but some programs must be installed in the phones memory to work correctly

2) When u r not using the Incite phone, it dims.. anyway of shutting it completely off w/o shutting the phone off? plz explain..?
Yes, go to Settings>System>Backlight…. you can change around your settings there

3) someone explain the alarms via wav files cuz I found the files listed when i try to set the alarm but it just will not select them or it will select them but just not play. As u can see I know whwere the file has to be and it as to be wav file but whats the max kilobyte? OKAY i did find out the text message alerts works also if they are wav files and placed in the same folder..
Not sure, I think there is a topic about this
ANYONE KNOW WHERE TO GET HIP/HOP WAV files for free?
I’d try Zedge.com

4) any way of getting different tones for Text message alerts, what file type (besides wav)(also get placed in the windows folder as this is how they showed up) and size max?
Yea I’m pretty sure they have to be .wav and be placed in the windows folder, file size… not sure, probably not to big though, its just an alert.

5) Are there any themes, u can download so its not always the same colors?
Yup just do a google search on "winmo 6.1 themes" there’s a bunch out there.

6) Any way of changing the touch menu at the bottom on the today screen?
Nope, but you can get a different plugin. Don’t know what that is? Search the forum… no harshness intended.

7) Anyway of changing the two buttons on the left and right side at the bottom of the today screen instead of mine being calendar and contacts?
I don’t think so.
Anyway to change the settings of windows media player so when u click on a sound file it does not automatically play, this gets annoying when testing, renaming files.
There aren’t any settings that will do this but there is probably a reg edit to do so, ask one of the winmo geniuses on this site.

8)Anyway of syncing 2 phones together and how?
I’ve done it with my freinds incite through bluetooth.

The uninstall processes on LG Incite mobile phone are not complicated, three ways you can choose below according to situation/setup. LG Phone Problem and solution

1. Uninstall Apps Using ActiveSync LG-Incite info
For Windows XP and below users will want to use the ActiveSync program. You can download ActiveSync 4.5 here.
Once downloaded and installed on your desktop ActiveSync uninstalls are one of the easiest ways to remove unwanted programs, simply follow the directions below:

Connect your LG Incite to ActiveSync

Click on the "Tools" option

Click Add/Remove Programs

At this point you’ll see a screen that lists all of your devices programs, each program will have a checkbox to the left of the programs name and all of your programs will have a checkmark located next to their names.

Take out the checkmark in each program box you’d like to uninstall.

Click "OK"

It’s really that simple, your LG Incite will take a moment to uninstall the unwanted Windows Mobile Apps you chose and then you’re done.

2. Uninstall Apps Using Windows Mobile Device Center
If you’re a Windows Vista desktop user there’s no reason to download ActiveSync, partly because it won’t work, but more importantly because Windows Vista comes standard with the Windows Mobile Device Center, a device to desktop sync application that functions in much the same way as ActiveSync 4.5.
Uninstalling Apps with Windows Mobile Device Center is a simple process if you follow the quick steps below:

Connect your LG Incite via USB to your desktop to launch the application.

Click on the "Programs And Services" option

Click the "More" option, You will now see a program box similar to the one found with ActiveSync 4.5.

Each program will have a box with a checkmark, find the programs you’d like to uninstall and uncheck that box.

Click "OK"

The unchecked programs will now uninstall from your device, its really that simple.

3. Uninstall Programs Directly From Your Windows Mobile Device.
You don’t have to use a computer to delete programs from your LG Incite, if you’re on the go uninstalling apps directly from your system once again involves only a few quick steps.

Go to your "Start" button

Go to "Settings"

You’ll see a "System" tab, click on that tab.

Then go to "Remove Programs"

Choose the Application you want to remove and highlight it.

Click "Remove"

Your LG Incite will now remove the highlighted application.
Personally I usually use my computer for deleting apps just in case anything goes wrong during the uninstall process, however i’ve rarely heard of people running into Windows Mobile uninstall issues when doing so from their devices.
Conclusion

The 3 uninstall options listed above are the easiest ways to uninstall apps from your Windows Mobile based Pocket PC and Smartphone devices.
If these steps don’t work your best bet may be to use the "Clear Storage" option on your Windows Mobile device and start your device with the standard fresh install, but hopefully it doesn’t come to that.

If you are looking for a way to use the LG Incite hooked to a PC as a modem. You come to the right site. I found the easiest way for you to do this. Credit teoami

Connect your LG Incite via USB to your PC. On your PC go to your Network Connections (windows xp) or the equivalent for your platform. Make sure the phone shows up as a Local Area Connection. (it will say Windows Mobile-based Device as the interface) LG Phone Problem and solution
On your LG Incite, go to Start -> Programs -> Internet Sharing
Select USB under PC Connection.
Select MediaNet under Network Connection.
Hit "Connect"
If you connect your phone to the PC using bluetooth, just select "Bluetooth PAN" under PC Connection.
On your PC look at the Status of the LAC and the IP should be a 192.x.x.x address.
Hope this helps. LG-Incite info
