Sprint is rolling out a minor over-the-air firmware update to its version of the LG G Flex. LG G Flex owners on the “Now Network” should find the LS995ZV9 update to hit their devices now. Here’s what to look forward to when the update finally drops.

This software update includes:

  • New PRL (51103) update
  • Google Security Patch
  • Google Market Store update 4.4.2 R5
  • Radio Player improvement

Wi-Fi is required to download the update. You can wait for the notification to arrive on its own, or you can try your luck requesting it down manually. More specific instructions are available at Sprint’s support page.

Ok, so here it is (drum roll) LG G Flex D950 Hotspot hack. I do not take responsibility for doing this I simply tried it on my device and it worked.

AT&T LG G Flex D950 Hotspot hack:

  1. Download SQLite Editor (I have the paid version)
  2. Open the file – /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db
  3. There’s a field named ‘tether_entitlement_check_state’. in System. Original value is set to 5. Changed it to 0 and save
  4. Reboot the phone
  5. Enjoy tethering using AT&T app, not necessary to install any other app.

USB tethering works great too.

Not sure if this hack works for other versions, anyway I’m using the app that came pre-installed, it is part of AT&T bloatware.

Each carrier’s Hidden Menu can offer different options. I’ll be showing off the Hidden Menu of LG G Flex LS995 on the Sprint variant, but yours may be slightly different.

Head to your Phone app’s dialer to enter your code 5689#*995#, You will access the hidden menu on LG G Flex.

How to Troubleshoot Problems Using the hidden menu on LG G Flex (LS995).

  1. Dialer 5689#*995# –>
  2. Select Device Test –>
  3. Press Power Button & Select AATFULL(+power key) –>
  4. Select All Auto Test – Full.

Note: Unless you’re an advanced user, do not explore the Hidden Menu, as you can open pages you may not be able to navigate out out of.

T-Mobile’s variant of the LG G Flex started receiving an update (D95920s) last night that weighs in at 220MB. Sadly, this is not the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop. The update, at least for now, is mostly a mystery. T-Mobile has yet to post a changelog to their support area, so until that happens, we will have to rely on your word.

LG G3 users on T-Mobile, were you able to download the update? If so, what changes do you notice?

Baseband version: M8974A-AAAANAZM-2.0.20064

Kernel Version: 3.4.0

To check for the update, head into Settings>About Phone>Update center>System updates>Check now.
