The LG Esteem is not a very powerful smartphone. So some android applications have some lag when they scroll.

I found in logcat that garbage collector is working to much when I do some scroll in application.

I googled about it and found the ‘scrollingcache’ function inside android making problem.
Some application developers recommend disable ‘scrollingcache’ in app’s internal config. But not all applications have disabled scrollingcache.

So the mod I’ll do will disable the scrollingcache throughout the Android OS.

Guides on how to install the app on LG Esteem:

  3. boot phone to recovery
  4. look for file in your memory internal or external
  5. flash file
  6. reboot
  7. done

Simply enabling the test mode will produce an error? Try the method below. This will fully correct the issue.

LG Esteem Test Mode Fix:

–Plug your LG Esteem into your USB connection.

–Go to START then CONTROL PANEL then DEVICE MANAGER. Scroll down to "Ports(Com and LPT)" Expand it and your LG Esteem SHOULD be listed with a "COM7", "COM3" etc….

–Get YOUR "COM" number and remember it. This is what USB port you are plugged into. (If you don’t see your LG Esteem, the drivers are NOT installed correctly.)

–Open and extract the Test Mode Fix Zip on your desktop

–Open up the folder "Test Mode Fix" You should be looking at this.

–Open the drop down menu and find YOUR "COM" port.

–Click on CONNECT after you select YOUR "COM" and it SHOULD look like this.

This is a guide on how to change all the LG Esteem phone’s system backgrounds plain colors (settings, contacts, etc) to an actual image instead of a color (I’ll add the lines to change the colors too)

LG Esteem Tips & Tricks – How to change the system backgrounds Steps:

  1. Decompile the framework-res.apk
  2. navigate to the res>layouts>styles.xml and with notepad++ locate and edit these lines:
    • change:
@color/background_dark

    • to this:
@color/transparent

    • then change:
@drawable/screen_background_dark

    • to this one to use a png for the background:
@drawable/backgroundftw

    • or to this if you want to change the color:
@color/name of the color

  3. Locate
    • change this line:
@color/black

    • to this:
@color/transparent

    • then change:
@color/black

    • with this if you are going to use a png:
@drawable/backgroundftw

    • or to this if you want to change the color:
@color/the name of the color

  4. 4a. If you are using a png, Create a 480×800 png , name it "backgroundftw" and place it in drawable-hdpi folder
  5. 4b. If you are using a color, you need to look in the res>values>colors xml to see if the color you are wanting to use is defined. If its not defined, just copy any of the lines in there and add it. So if you wanted hot pink you would copy an existing line in the colors xml and change it.
    • Example:
      existing line: <color name="white">#ffffffff</color>
      copy it and make your change to hot pink:
      <color name="pink">#ff00ff</color>
  6. Recompile and enjoy.

How did you get your LG Esteem to tether to your pc or any other electronic products? Here we introduce you the wifi tether app. LG-Esteem info

LG Esteem wifi tether app Download:

Once you download the wifi tether app, you put the apk file on your sd card in the LG Esteem, then open it with either an app installer or astro file viewer, and install it.

Remember: To use this app, you should root your LG Esteem first, or you will receive an error message popped up on my screen when i tried to run the app. "not root! Sorry, but your kernel does not have all necessary features for running this application."

Also, the wifi tether app confirmed working on ZVD, posting this right now as I am connected through my LG Esteem. Enjoy. LG Android Phones
