LG Arena Software – MGMaps GPS with Offline Maps

Following the tutorial below made by boscaini, I finally got the MGMaps GPS working on my LG Arena with Offline Maps without any problem. Now I copy the instruction to my blog and share it to you folks, hope it is help. Enjoy!! Install JAD files of MGMaps, to avoid the boring questing about data access, and configure MGMaps: LG Cell phone Software

Menu > Settings > Map Browsing: Activate the options "Stored Maps" and "Off-line Mode"
In "Storage Path" set "Other/MGMapsCache" (the maps you have to generate using Mapcacher(map Creation Tool for MGMaps) and gMapMaker, copy the whole MGMapsCache folder created by gMapMaker to the Others folder in your phone.)
In option “Memory Cache (Kb)” set the value 65536.
In Menu > Settings > Display, in option Coordinate Format select (DD.ddddd). Restart MGMaps
In Menu > Map Types > Not Available check the option Google Maps.
In Menu > Maps Type > Yahoo Maps uncheck all options.

Offline maps should be working.

Configure GPS in LG Arena phone:
Enter in Hide Menu ("calling" 1809#*900#)
Go to Others –> A-GPS Test –> Settings.
GPS Type: Standalone
Fix Type: Tracking
Operation Mode: Autonomous
SLP Mode: LGE SLP

Done!

Start MGMaps, put the LG Arena in your pocket, and go take a walk for about 20 minutes…your location will be marked with a blue dot. (an upside down Drop), Hope it helps… Working nice for me!! LG-Arena info

LG Phone tips – Changing the resolution of the java games

Extract the jar file by using the Winzip
Open the ‘META-INF’ folder
You will see a file called ‘MANIFEST.MF’, open it in notepad
Now you must know 2 things to edit the file. First, you must know the original resolution of the game. Ususally this information can be found on the author’s website. Second, you must know the resolution of your screen. Then type the following two lines at the end of the text in the MANIFEST.MF file:
Nokia-MIDlet-Original-Display-Size: www,xxx
Nokia-MIDlet-Target-Display-Size: yyy,zzz
In the example above ‘www,xxx’ represents the original resolution of the game. ‘yyy,zzz’ represents the resolution of your phone’s display.
In the picture example below, the original game resolution is 176×208 and the target resolution of my screen (N80) is 352×416.5.
Now save the changes in the MANIFEST.MF file and drag it back into the META-INF folder in your jar file to overwrite the old one.
That’s it! Now install the jar to your phone and enjoy your full screen game…

LG Arena problem – cant show internal memory on PC

If you connect your LG Arena to the computer using a USB, but it can’t show your internal memory (have installed LG Arena PC Suite lll on your PC). Here’s a solution posted by ben88 on LG forum. Thanks to ben88 again. LG-Arena info

I solved it by:
1. right click on ‘my computer’ and click ‘manage’
2. select ‘disc management’
3. if you see the phone in the bottom window, right click it and select ‘change drive letter’.

Changed mine to F: (also, I had an external memory card, set that to G: ) worked fine after that. Cheers!! LG Phone Problem and solution

The Google maps works fine with touch screen, If you have some trouble when you installing it and it says “authorisation failed”, You could simply change the name of the new Google Maps, so it will be installed aside to the old one. Extract the contents of the JAR, goto META-INF and open MANIFEST.MF, change there "MIDlet-name: xx" to whatever you want. Then zip the stuff again (and rename it to .jar) and install it, should not ask for replacement. No guarantee. LG Cell phone Software
