Sorry for LG Ally owners. It is now known that it doesn’t exist with the LG Ally. What you can do is add Direct Dial shortcuts to the desktop of one (or more) of your screens. Just long press on the background and select Shortcuts / Direct dial / and select the person/number you want. Good Luck! LG-Ally info

Set debug option in Settings, Applications, Development Check USB Debugging.
Plug in your LG Ally and make sure you have the drivers installed, wait for it to install your ADB drivers. LG-Ally info
** ALSO make sure you have a properly formated SDCard in the phone **
This program has error debugging built in, if it does not detect your LG Ally it does not continue. If it fails. Reboot your LG Ally and try again. Let the program do its thing.

There is a new technique that LG is using to make some settings revert in the NV memory of the LG Ally.
I think this might be done with the kernel, I have tried modifying the bin file a few times and flashing it with LGNPST, I either end up with a dead phone or a no go.

-A rooted LG Ally phone
-MetaMorph (you can find it on Android Market)
-BusyBox (available on market, MetaMorph requires it)

How to put the theme on LG Ally:
MetaMorph should create a folder "Android Themes" on your sd card automatically, connect to USB, mount SD Card, go to Android Theme’s folder, drop the theme there, unmount, fire up MetaMorph and extract the theme, than to go "Pick Existing Theme", and just follow the rest, will take about 5-10min to theme your LG Ally.
