Android 4.4 KitKat update rolling out to LG Optimus G (only in Korea for now)

LG is now offering an official Android 4.4 KitKat update for its LG Optimus G smartphone in South Korea. The update includes the new Knock Code screen unlocking feature that LG has been heavily promoting before. The UI has also been refreshed with a transparent status bar and a new tabbed settings menu.

If you are now in Korea, the update should roll out over-the-air, so your LG Optimus G should notify you when it’s ready to download and install. The update is a 608 MB affair, and you’ll need to have at least 50% of your battery left when attempting to apply it. After doing that, you’ll be on build KOT49I, software version V30b.

It’s a pretty solid update for the LG Optimus G, and now that the update is rolling out in Korea, we should begin to see it rolling out elsewhere in the world fairly soon.
